I overheard some fellow DVC owners talking last night night that because they owned an interest in DVC that they are or were considered Florida residents and that they get discounts because so. I can't imagine this is the case and hope someone can clarify this for me.

No, being a DVC member does not transfer to being FL resident. Disney was careful to include that in the documents too. Unless you are considered a FL resident for some other reason, DVC members will not have access to any discounts specifically offered to FL residents.

Right in there - as always!

There really are 2 issues. One is the state requirements of residency, the other, how/when/who Disney decides to offer discounts to. They decide to offer them to FL residents and not to DVC members who are not FL residents, the statement in the POS is simply a statement that Disney will not offer the discount to DVC members that they offer to FL residents.

Disney is pretty explicit in what they accept as Florida Resident ID. In order to obtain one of those you have to meet pretty specific criteria. You can see the requirements for FL residency/FL ID card on their government page. I think its under FL drivers license. They have tightened the criteria since 2001. DVC doesn't cut it.
