Florida resident ticket question

My DBF just got a job in Florida yay! We will definitely be getting annual passes once we move down there. I'm wondering if it's possible to purchase the seasonal pass with date restrictions and then upgrade it to the annual pass if we have visitors who want to visit durning the blackout dates ?

My suggestion is to just get the AP right away. The restricted one doesn't include parking and at $17 a day that can add up fast.

Agreed. After the down payment (which we used mostly our Visa Disney Rewards to put down on) its $38 a month for unlimited access, no block outs, free parking, shopping discounts. Think about it. It's less than HALF the price (closer to 1/3rd) of what a one day ticket costs, for a whole month!

The only reason to get the seaonsal I think is if you don't really live very close, don't have a lot of visitors, and despise crowds and summer. However, if you DO get family that wants to go to the parks when they have off, you will be blocked out. If you live close enough that a few trips to the parks a year off season aren't enough, I'd just go straight to the AP that really gives you options, AND you can book FPs 30 days in advance and go any time.

Block outs stink! And so does $17 in parking each day!

I think everyone typically gets the annual pass the first year but then go with SPs. We've been sp holders since '97 ($140 back then, AP were $210). I guess I fall into hate summer and ridiculously busy times...though we went today. I live an hour south and typically when we go we make a few days of it and stay overnight and stay onsite. Today was suppose to be 60% rain, left at 5:30, never rained. But we valeted at GF. We have gotten free parking, told parking CMs I wish they offered a yearly parking pass at a discount. They just ask for SP and have waved us through. I'd valet again before parking in regular lot. ....answer to your question,yes you can upgrade but will have to pay full upgrade at time of upgrade(about $200 a person) .

Resurrecting this thread to ask a few related questions. We will be moving to Florida this summer and will most likely get annual passes asap. We will be renting an apt for our first year to get a feel for the area we're moving to and make sure of where we want to build a home. If we move in June, how soon could we get our APs? Is a lease agreement enough for proof of residency, or do we have to have our drivers licenses already changed over to qualify (and how long does that take?) I don't know how long it would take to have bills with our new address and I'm a teacher and would like to enjoy the parks before school starts in August! Can we get the passes right at the gates, and if so, can we do the monthly payment option or does buying them onsite require you to pay it all at once? I'm just trying to figure out the timing of all of it and if it's realistic to think we could go during the month of July or if that's too soon to get all the residency proof gathered. Thanks!

All of the passes now include parking, so the parking argument is no longer valid.

The gold pass is $160 more than the Silver pass, but includes a year of Photopass, and less restrictive blackout dates. I think that makes it a better value.

Florida is a real ID state so to get a FL driver's license you would need all the proper papers (marriage/divorce records for any name changes), surrendering your out of state license, etc.

Most places use to allow appointments to get a drivers license, but many have dropped that option. So it can take long. I think it took me 3 hours to renew mine. My husband lucked out and was in and out in 45 minutes for his renewal.

A rental lease isn't accepted as proof of residency. You can use a mortgage statement, homeowners insurance, car registration, car insurance, and utility bills or bank/credit card statements dated within 2 months. Digital copies are accepted, photocopies/faxes are not.

We can do the monthly payment plan at the gate.

I got my FL license about a week after I moved here. It wasn't too hard but I had lots of documentation.

I just renewed my AP at the GR at AK and was asked if I wanted to do the monthly payments I said no but you could do it if you wanted.

I think getting a DL will depend on the DMV you are at and if you have all the paper work ( go to the FL DMV and see what you need and gather things before you go)

I think you get the AP right there and then but you will get your MB latter ( you will get a card to use)
