I am marrying a florida resident military member. We are going to WDW for our honeymoon. Will I have to change my residency in order to get the FL Resident discount if he purchases the tickets?

Thanks!

That's pretty tricky. I know the park will afford Florida resident status to active military and their families who are stationed here. Is your husband a Florida native with a current Florida ID? If so, then he would probably be able to get the resident pass military status notwithstanding.

The problem is if you have no Florida ID and no Florida residence. I don't know if they will allow a resident's spouse who is not technically a resident to qualify for the pass. When you purchase tickets all adult resident passholders must show proof of Florida residency, not just the purchaser. I would just call and ask them directly. A state ID card is only $3, and is acceptable proof of residence.

You can call shades of green (military hotel on disney) ticket office and they can tell you what you need for there proof of fl res. And you will be able to get there fl res discount vouchers. I'm not sure what guest relations will require you could also contact them. I would guess both military ID's and his LES which states state of residency being fl.

Shades of Green will sell you the same exchange voucher that you get at TDS or at the gate. Either way, you will have to go to Guest Relations at Epcot, MGM, Magic Kingdom, or Animal Kingdom and show your proof of Florida residency. It is only here that definitions of residency come up.

Your husband can show his current FL driver's license and will have no problem. Guest Relations does not care if he's in the military, and it is probably to his advantage not to volunteer that he currently does not live in Florida. You will have to provide one of the following:

• Florida driver's license
• Florida state-issued ID card (must have Florida address)
• Current utility statement with your name and Florida address along with a corresponding picture ID
• Florida voter's registration card with corresponding picture ID
• A college ID for a Florida college
• Florida-based military ID

If I misunderstood, and you are military members currently living in Florida, you are afforded Florida residency while you are stationed here.

If you fiancee is stationed in Florida, I think you could use your marriage license as your proof of FL residency and his orders. Since it is your honey moon, you would not have had time to get new DL or other ID between the marriage and arriving for your honey moon. I would call Guest Relations or Shades of Green and ask how you would be able to qualify given the lack of time for a FL ID. You could always argue that you wouldn't be getting a new DL or other ID until after the wedding, and given the time mentioned above, you wouldn't be doing that until after the honey moon when you move in with your new husband or into base housing after the wedding.

If you are marrying a man who was a resident of FL before entering the service and still has a FL DL, the marriage certificate should be enough even if the wedding is out of the state of Florida. Afterall, many men are married where their fiancee lives before she moves to his home after the wedding.

To be very short............ Yep, you will.

You each will have to show proof of Florida Residency. Hubby and I both had to show our Drivers Licenses when we got our passes.
