Last winter my sister stayed in Florida from Oct. till June.. In March she purchased a Park Model in a gated RV Resort to spend future winters in.. After returning here this summer she discovered that due to health problems it would be in her best interest to move into her Park Model in Florida on a permanent year-round basis..

I'm not sure if she intends to switch her driver's license from NY to FL right away.. Are there any other documents she can use to prove FL residency? She already has utilities in her name there, the Park Model has gone through the DMV process, and she has bank accounts at two different banks down there..

Thanks! :flower:

I have asked this same kind of ? never got an answer just a lot of unkind answers maybe you'll get an answer. Good luck :sunny:

Proof of Florida residency includes any of the following: Florida Driver's License; Florida state-issued I.D. (must have Florida address); Florida voters registration card with corresponding picture I.D.; a college I.D. for a Florida college; a Florida-based military I.D.

Hope this helps. :paw:

Looks like the Florida voters registration card might be the best way to start off..

I think the thing with not switching her driver's license right away has something to do with the higher car insurance rates down there.. :confused3

She lives less than an hour from WDW and now that she'll have me to go to the parks with (I'll be there Jan - March) I'm sure she'll want to take advantage of whatever Florida resident perks are available..

Thanks! :flower:

Higher car insurance rates here in FL??? Where in NY did she live? I know when I came down from Westchester County in 1991, my car insurance dropped by over $200. I switched mine within 10 days of getting here. I live in Lee County... Maybe the county makes the difference?? If she didn't want to switch her DL, she could still get the FL state ID to go along with the voters reggie.

C. Ann,

My parents live down there about 5 or 6 months out of the year and they also own a park model in a gated community.

They have FL Resident's Passes. They have their FL driver's licenses. But you don't have to give up your own state's driver's license to have a FL one. They still have their TN one. They have both. I guess FL allows this because so many people are only there for several months out of a year. Anyway, it should be no trouble for your sister to do get her FL Resident's Pass. ;)
