Florida Marriage License?

Hi...

I'm sure this question has come up before but I'm curious about how Florida marriage licenses work. We're from New York but of course realize we need a Florida license to get married in Disney. I read today in a magazine that Florida has a 3 day waiting period after you get the license before you can get married. Is this accurate? If so, I'm thinking about using one of those mail-away services. Also, I read that if you take a pre-marriage course, there is no waiting period and it's also less expensive to get the license. Is this course only available to Florida residents? Can anyone help with any insight on this?

A Wedding for You does mail away licenses for $190 (vs $101 at the courthouse) This was ideal for us because we were not down there on a weekday before the wedding and did not want to see each other the day of. Also they will send it to your em for you don't have to worry about forgetting it. It's worth doing unless you happen to have to time to go get it while you are down there (who wants to spend their Fla vacation at the courthouse?)

We got married on 3/26/05, and got our license 2 days before that at the Kissimmee courthouse. It took about 5 minutes, we made sure we got there right when they opened! The waiting period is for Florida residents only. Out of state residents do not have a waiting period. The class is also only for Florida state residents.

We used a wedding for you to make our life easier. We could have gotten a cab and gone to the courthouse BUT with the cost to and from we figured it equaled about the same to have it taken care of before we reached Florida. I was very impressed with the service and received answers to my questions very quickly.

Thank you all for your help. I'm pretty sure we'll end up using the mail-order method as we don't plan on being down there until the week of the wedding.
