Hello,

I was wondering if some of the Disney World veterans could tell me what the evenings are like, by chance? I know California, for instance, can have very warm days but still cool off considerably at night, to the point that somebody might want a light cardigan even into early Summer. Is Florida similar in early May, does anyone know? I know that the average temperatures are all over the 80s, with the last few years having at least one chance occurance of being in the 90s. Thanks in advance!

Hi! I've lived here next to Disney for 13 years, From November-April you would want to bring a light jacket for evening and jeans. But, May usually does not get that cool in the evenings. May really starts to warm up. But, it is FLorida and our weather varies so much so packing a light jacket would not hurt:) Just keep an eye on the weather a couple days before your trip would be my best advise...it changes so quickly. Have a great trip!

Thanks! I wonder if the chance is so small that it's worth risking buying hoodies there in a pinch? I'll probably do just what you said and check the weather, and if none of the evenings are predicted to be cool I'll take my chances. There's a lot to pack when you go for 9 days! I'll already have to do laundry part way through! Thanks again for your help. :)

That time of the year is pretty much summer.Shorts are a must.Chances of you needing a hoodie is slim.A parka would be better. They are warm and water proof. As always check the weather before hand.Remember it is further south than California. And may I be the first to welcome you to the south!Enjoy!!

I don't think you will need a jacket in May. At the most, pack a lightweight long sleeve shirt that you can layer under a short sleeve one. We like layering here in Fl. :)

You won't need a jacket at night in May. MAYBE in the early morning if you are a very early riser -- I've gone out on errands at dawn and been a tad chilly until the sun comes up, but that is when the ground has had all night to cool. In the evening the ground is still going to be giving off warmth.

Southern California is a desert, so it's a completely different climate model. Orlando is many things, but NOT a desert. The density of the humid air holds heat close to the ground when it is has been warmed by the sun.
