This morning an 5.8 earthquake hit the gulf of Mexico, About 250 miles from the coast.

I felt it! The whole house shuddered! It freaked me out for a second. I used to live in CA and was thinking that it couldn't be an earthquake- FL doesn't get earthquakes!

I thought the same thing! We moved here from Northern Nevada and I was thinking, WHAT?!?!?! I KNEW it was an earthquake but I didn't know Florida had those...

I didn't hear about it here... but we get Earthquakes in South Louisiana too- there is a fault line that runs along the I10

Usually none of these are felt because our ground is mushy and wet but I do know there has been an increase in the sismic activity here since I was a little girl.

Still nothing like the California area- but it has increased some...

I felt it. I was asleep at the time. I woke up because my whole body was shaking. I thought there was something wrong with me. I didn't know it was something else until I talked to my mother and she told me she also felt it. Then I read on here it was an earthquake. And I never thought that there would be an earthquake in Florida.
