Florida Beach Weekend

We rent a big house at watercolor every summer. We love riding our bikes to the beach, pools and restaurants.

We really, really dislike Panama city and destin. Way too many people on the beaches, driving on the roads and trying to eat at the restaurants. We prefer a quieter, more relaxing, less people vacation.

We've been going to Fort Myers Beach for the past 10+ years. Really enjoy that area. Close to Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Sanibel, and Captiva ..................... and Bert's Bar and Grill on Matlacha! Be forewarned though, lots of traffic on Estero Blvd and getting across the bridge.

So it's been a year since I started this thread. We haven't gone anywhere yet, but plans have changed. Now we're deciding between Longboat Key, Sanibel, Ft Meyers Beach, or March Island. Just DH & me for a 3-4 nights in June or July. We enjoy relaxing on a beautiful beach and going out to nice dinners. We also enjoy a few adult beverages with dinner, so being able to walk or take a cab/Uber would be great.

Thoughts? We've never been to any of these places. Friends and coworkers have recommended them and they all look great - I can't decide!

You can't go wrong with any of those. Marco Island dies after 9 pm so keep that in mind.

Marco is quiet and early to bed. Sanibel is the same, pretty much.

We've stayed on Longboat and liked it a lot.

St. Armands Key, just across the bridge from Longboat is where the action is. St. Armands has some very good restaurants and shopping. If you go to Longboat, be sure to go to Columbia Restaurant -- a real Florida classic. And after dinner, walk across the circle to Kilwins and get some chocolate or ice cream (or both) to die for!

If you miss the Columbia, please do not ever return to Florida!
