For those of you who have called FEMA due to flooding, what information can you pass my way?

Oh my, no info, AK, just

I am in San Diego, CA and we have been watching all the flooding on the East Coast from the TODAY show to the Weather Channel to just our local news covering it. :sad2:

One DSis in MA has been evacuated from her condo complex. It abuts the Shawsheen River and the river is overflowing.

Another DSis in MA has more water in her basement than imagineable.

Praying for :sunny: for everyone dealing with this horrific weather.

Thanks, I've said a few prayers myself!

This is one of those times when one realizes they have absolutely no control over a situation.

Guess what state I live in. ;)

Well we used them 10 yrs ago for flyod.. all I can say is don't expect too much...they are not that helpful if you are not a complete loss from our experience. some families we know had to pay back money to them as well...
hopefully they have improved over the years.

sorry you are having issues from flooding, best of luck.

I am the EMA director for my city and I can tell you that FEMA won't be around for at least a week if at all. You wouldn't be calling FEMA directly. In most cases they work through the state and county EMA to assist. Just because your area is declared a disaster doesn't mean FEMA will be coming in. If you have a loss you may qualify for assistance. That determination wont be made to well after the water is gone. Good Luck

Try calling the non-emergency # for your local police department. In my experience, PDs will keep a running list of affected homes that they will forward to the Emergency Management Director for consideration when/if a disaster area is determined and FEMA steps in.
