Do I have to book these now or can I wait untill we are at castaway cay. Is there plenty to go around? We are sailing July 24th. I wanted to do the glass bottom boat but its sold out :sad2:

If that is a DD cruise then I think the only way to get the 2 for 1 deal at CC is to book it online. If it is another cruise, then you can just wait until you get to CC. :)

For the floats, if you arrive a little later in the day (like after 11am, you will start finding lots of "abandoned" floats. We just watched a few floats for a while, asked a few people who were sitting around the floats if those were theirs, and if not, we used them!

Don't worry if the glass bottom boat is full, it isn't very fun. Old dirty boat, we only saw a few schools of fish, and we had to stand the whole time. A big waste of $25 per person (now I think it is $35)

Im sorry I mean we sail the 23rd. We will only be in CC one day.
Ive read here not to wait and take floats that are not being used because they very well may belong to someone who is just eatting lunch and intend to use them when they return.

Regarding using floats on the beach, please do not do this. They are only $6 each. We went to lunch around 12 & left our tubes by our chairs. Other DISers left theirs as well and a couple were missing when they returned from lunch. Keep your receipt if you do rent one because if this happens you are able to go back to the place and show your receipt to get a replacement.

I am still not clear on one thing. Can you rent goggles fins etc. the day you arrive at c.c. to snorkl on your own? Thanks!!!!!!

Don't be upset about the glass bottom boats...that is not an excursion that is worth it anyway. I went on one in Nassau and what a disappointment that was! I figured it was just there that was bad but we tried again one year while vacationing in St Thomas for a week and it was the same thing. Boat with a dirty little viewing window in the middle that you have to stand to see into if you want to see...and then you had to move anyway to give others a chance to see so it really is not worth it. You can see more fish just standing in the water at castaway cay!

I should have been more clear on using abandoned floats. We just don't go up and grab floats off people's chairs. Especially later in the day after lunch, it can obvious that floats are abandoned. If a few floats are just sitting on the shore for 10-15 minutes, with nothing around it, we ask people if they belong to anyone and if not, we will use them.

Just like sand toys, we always bring toys for the kids, and when we are done, we leave them for others.

We will go to CC in the morning, RENT floats, go back to the ship for a quick nap and come back to CC and there are tons of floats laying around that is clear to anyone they are abandoned.

Can you just bring your snorkel from home and still be allowed to snorkel in the lagoon? We'll be going on the DD cruise on Aug 19....

yes but you have to get a floatation vest which they will let you use for free while you are there.

We did the glass bottom boat once and did not like it.

Great to hear that we can take our own Snorkels and Mask! This thread is a bit old, hope this is still current. Can we also take our own floaties/vest for our 4 year old?

When we were there, the child we were with could wear her own puddle jumper, but was required to wear the vest (not inflated) over it. The vests are bright yellow and for the visibility of life guards watching the area. Everyone has to wear the vest. You are not required to inflate it.

You have to use their vest. It's so the lifeguards know exactly what they are looking for.
