Flip Ultra or Mino - Anyone?

I'm considering the Flip Mino or Ultra and was wondering if anyone has purchased either and used it in Disney? A friend owns the Ultra and loves it but comments that distance shots are a little grainy. Any comments? There is a great deal for the new Mino at Amazon that ends 8/16 so give me a quick shout out with any info. you may have! THANKS!

I have the 60 minute flip video, is that what you're talking about? I love mine and use it all the time at soccer games and school parties.

If that's what you're talking about, then I recommend it. It's only got 2x zoom, so yeah, far away stuff isn't a good bet. But we're thinking it'll be perfect for capturing the kid's excitement at the sights and experiences at WDW.

The best thing about the flip, as I was thinking about it today, is that my ds who is 8 is perfectly comfortable using it. She tapes things like a pro, and it's lightweight enough to not slow her down. And since it's all transferred via USB, it's simple enough to delete videos that don't turn out well.

You can also easily plug it into your TV to rewatch the fun stuff without burning a DVD while you're on the go. Just be sure you bring along a laptop to offload your videos, you'll be tapped out at 60 minutes.

And, at 100 bucks, you may find you can buy 2 or 3 of them. The more the merrier!

I was also looking at these last night. I was comparing it to the Creative Vado. My husband's MP3 is a Creative and he's had good luck with their Customer Service. But everything I've read says that the Mino has better quality video. How is the quality on the Mino or Ultra? I think the Vado will be okay in Daylight, but seems to record dark in dark light. Also the audio on the Vado seems to be off - with all the crowd noise at WDW, I want to be able to hear my little guys. Right now the Vado is selling about $60 less than the Mino. I'd love to get the cheaper one, but don't want to miss out on quality. KWIM? Thanks for any input!!

Hi nrod - I caved and bought the newest FLIP Mino from Amazon.com. They're running a great deal right now when you buy the Mino it's $149.99 and they throw in the carrying case for free. I read alot of great reviews on this update over the original Flip Ultra and I loved the idea of the small size of it. Good luck with what you decide and let me know if you have any questions. I'm receiving mine today!

Considering the price, decent video quality, slim size & 2inch screen(larger than the one on Flip) I would choose to go for the vado. There has been talk about a new firmware for the vado at creative site known for improving the video quality. anyone tried that out?

Thanks for the info. I went to look at the Mino today and it looked good. It's so small! But I think I'm going to try the Vado. I also had read about the update and with that I'm told that the video is improved to the quality of the Mino. I'm still a little concerned with the audio, but I'll post comments once we get it.
