Flip Flops or Water Shoes?

Hello everyone! My family and I will be at Typhoon Lagoon the first week of May. I have read the posts on many of the boards, and am still unsure about what to put on our feet. Flip-flops or water shoes? Leave the flip flops with the towels and go barefoot in the rides/slides/pools? Or water shoes for all activities? It may not matter, but I have two daughters aged seven and 10. They've only been to one other waterpark in their life, this will be there second experience. Thanks so much for the help and input!

I have flip flops so I have something to wear into the restroom. Otherwise, I go barefoot on the slides and lazy river. I don't go during the super-hot summer season, so the pavement isn't too hot to walk on.

I just found that water shoes are a pain on the slides. I tried to wear some on my trip last month and got tired of having to take them off and hold them on the body slides.

Ditto what ZoZ said, and I do go during the heat (August). It is a pain to have to keep taking footwear off and holding it. Some slides they will tell you that you CANNOT hold it due to the need to hold onto handles, etc. so I just keep cheap flip flops at my towel for wearing to got food & go to restroom.

P.S> If the slip operator tells you that you WILL lose your sunglasses, believe them......

We just wear flip flops in and for restrooms and to go eat. On the slides/wave pool/lazy river we go barefoot. We have been many times and have had no problems. They have sprayers on most of the sidewalks and we have only ever encountered a few areas of super hot pavement where a sprayer or water didn't reach. Water shoes would be such a pain IMHO.

I may lose my man card here...but the texture on the bottom of the lagoon is pretty rough and can be hard on sensitive feet. Also if you get far enough out to be in the wave action it can easily knock off flip flops. So it's usually water socks or some other strap type water shoe for us, at least in the wave pool.

Flip flops. We leave them at the chairs with our towels so we have them for bathroom trips but otherwise all 5 of us are barefoot the entire time :)

We wear crocs if you lose them in the river they float. :thumbsup2

Our kids like swimming in the river being pushed by the current. They call it the "EAC" :rotfl: you definitely needs something otherwise your feet will get torn up.

definitely watershoes over flipflops.

My husband and I take light, foamy flip flops. We wear them when walking everywhere and when standing in the wave pool (agreed on the rough bottom) but take them off when we get on a ride and hold them in one hand with the tube handle.
