Hi All-

Airtran is running a special right now. www.airtran.com

Spring and Summer travel specials are now available for travel through October 1, 2003. A seven-day advance purchase is required, and you must purchase tickets by April 16, 2003, to take advantage of this offer.

I just purchased tics for September for $160 (plus tax) round trip from Flint, Mi into MCO. Got a direct flight! I'm feeling pretty good about myself right now.

Hope this sale helps someone else out.

Great price and good deal!

I am hoping that Airtran will one day fly out of DTW. I did manage to snag a good fare out of DTW to MCO for next week (Easter) on SWA. I booked that trip back in December for just around $200.

Flint is about one hour from my house and I don't even know how to get to Flint airport. I know...I wish they have that special that departs from DTW. The best rate I can find is $211 from Orbitz. I can't remember what airline that was. This is for June trip. Not too bad considering that I am paying $330 rt from DTW to MCO.

Hopefully they will still have this rate when I get back from Orlando this Easter trip.

It's easy to get to FNT. Either take I-75 or US23 (whichever is closer) north to Flint. Get off at the Bristol Rd. exit and go west. The airport is on the left (south ) side of Bristol Rd. You can see it from the highway. Very easy to navigate.

cbrfan, Thanks for posting the directions to Flint airport. We are flying outta there next month for the first time. Do you know about the parking? Will we need to take a shuttle? TIA.

DW, DS2.5 and DS(almost 5) are flying out of FNT the day before Memorial Day. Since I had never been there, I decided to casually "check things out". I drove up there late in the evening (9 or 10pm). The parking lot closest to the front door is comfortably small. The furthest spot seems to be about (with 2 kids) mmmaaaayyybbbeee a 7 minute walk to the front door. The economy lot (across the street to the north) is close too. I plan on dropping off DW and the 2 DS's, park the car in the "economy" lot and running back to the airport (not sure about a shuttle at 5am on a Sunday, though I'm sure there is one). I figure.... even if I park in the furthest spot from the front doors, I'll barely break a sweat.

BTW, for those of you coming to FNT via I-69.... take 69 to 75 south and it is the first exit.:Pinkbounc :bounce:

Robinette, you have the right idea. We always have DH drop us and the luggage off at the terminal then go park the car in the economy lot across the street. He then takes the shuttle back over to the terminal. We've been there before 4 a.m. and the shuttle was running. I can't remember how much it costs, but it's cheaper than the long term lot and, IMHO, more convenient. But long term parking is still a reasonable hiking distance. The parking lot closest to the terminal is short-term parking.

If you're coming in on I-69 you can take the I-75 exit, but I've always found that to be a more difficult, congested exit. There are Bristol Rd. exits off I-69 that are much better.

One more observation about Airtran. I've noticed that if you can get the non-stop flight for the same base price as those with connections, the total price is cheaper due to lower fees and taxes.

Im flying out of Traverse City to MCO rt 280 bucks. With a layover in Detroit. I considered flying out of flint but wasnt sure I wanted to drive all the way down there. I live in petoskey and I think flint is about 3 1/2 - 4 hrs from my house.
