Flimsy tickets

I just got my tickets through Ticketmania, and they are cheap and flimsy feeling. I didn't expect a credit card type of ticket like a UPH that was tied to your room. But, these aren't even like the ones I got at the Disney store last year. I assume they will hold up, but they are really cheap. Is this what the Disney store sells or are these what the parks sell if you were to buy there? For some reason I feel jipped!!! :rotfl:

I've purchased tickets thru Ticketmania and the Orlando Convention & Visitors Bureau. Both were the paper-like tickets and not the credit cards. The "paper" tickets are actually made of Tyvek, and they're very durable. I actually like them better than the credit cards because they're so much thinner and easier to slip into a plastic sleeve. Even my annual pass (which was issued by Guest Services) is made of this type of material. I don't think that you should feel like you've been ripped off.

Annual Passes have been Tyvek for several years. I've only had to get mine replaced once, after it got drenched during a severe downpour and the mag stripe was erased.

They are very durable and generally work well.

Rileyroosmom,

I have to agree with you. I liked last years tickets were MUCH better! Gosh, I HOPE these hold up!

...and they held up fine for 5 days. The only thing I noticed was after a couple of days a raised ridgeline appeared, probably from going through the fast pass machine or the gate. Still worked fine though.

Oh I don't feel ripped off, I feel jipped!!! It's a silly feeling actually. Some how feel like I'm missing out of the "pomp and circumstance" of the whole experience!! Told you it's silly. I don't really care what they are made of, as long as they let me in!!!!

It's the same material as the ones sold at the gate and should hold up fine. I would not keep them in my pants pocket, though. You can get a plastic ID holder at WalMart for 97 cents. I have a slot in my fanny pack where I keep mine, just like my DL and CC.

Same material as my AP and that has over 20 days use on it!!! It's holding up just fine. I like this material much better than the 'credit card' style. Those were much harder to put away. If you had to carry 3 of them, it started to get bulky in the pass holder!!

The tickets you are sold through Ticketmania are the self same tickets you will get at the gates at WDW. They are made of Tyvek, which cannot be torn. Of course, if you get it wet, you will have to get a replacement, so please be sure to write down your ticket numbers on the back. They will start with 3 letters such as WDW, or WTS etc... have a date and a number. If you have those, your tickets may easily be looked up and replaced. The only places you may get plastic tickets is if you have your tickets linked to your WDW room key card or if you buy them at the Disney Store, however with the Disney Store tickets they only sell base tickets, so if you have to have things added once at WDW, you will get a Tyvek ticket.

They work just great...my AP's have been made out of Tyvek for years...like another poster said if you are incharge of all of your families AP's it makes it much less bulkier to carry....I haven't had any problems with them tearing in all the years i've been usuing this type..

DS sells tickets with hoppers and extras. I bought 7-day MYW with hopper option at the Disney store.

One other question, on the back of these tickets is an X_______________
is this where you should write the person's name on it?

The plastic holder a previous poster spoke of, do you find these in the luggage department?

This is where the individual should sign the ticket. If there's any problem with the biometric scan, you can always show a picture ID with signature (like a driver's license) to prove that the ticket belongs to you.

rileyroosmom, I felt exactly like you did about the paper tickets the first time I saw them. However, after having used them ( in the form of APs for the last few years ), I can assure you they will hold up just fine. They don't look as cool as the plastic ones, but they do last.

I got the same ones at ticketmania, and also have got them on all other trips and have had no problems at all. I bought a waterproof passholder from mouseshoppe.com for about 6 or 7 dollars. Ticketmania also copied the backs of all the tickets I purchased so I plan on carrying that with me in a separate place just in case something should happen to them.

rileyroosmom I got my plastic holder at Walmart in the section near the purses and wallets. The one I have has a string to wear around your neck that velcros, but I will just have mine in my bag.

shellyz yes, I found it at Walmart last night. I think I will take the string off also. Don't like the velcro, my luck I will loose the whole thing.
