I'm helping my DD search for the lowest fare from Chicago to Las Vegas in June.

Everything that we're coming up with is $400+ round trip. Does that sound about right?

Have you checked Southwest Airlines? They are very active at LAS. Not sure if they serve a local airport convenient for your DD, though.

Can't really help with the price. I know most airfares have increased significantly due to fuel prices and the "what the market will bear" attitude of the airlines.

I was thinking of taking a trip out to Vegas back in Feb and those were the prices that were coming up, even for Southwest. So, that sounds about right, even though it's unfortunate. It put an end to my planning a trip out West.:confused3

Airfare was up this year for sure. We ended up using credit card rewards for our flights for the yearly trip with friends in March.

Definitely check SW, but they do fly out of Midway. Also check to see if Allegiant flies from somewhere close.

Milwaukee is a very popular airport for Chicago travelers. If you live on the northern side of town it is not a bad drive at all as it is on the south side of Milwaukee. They have decent prices periodically, often cheaper than Chicago. Plus parking is cheaper!! I have taken Midwest/Frontier thru there, AirTran & Delta I believe. SW now flies out of their also & SW and AirTran are still separate (altho trying to merge). It's a smaller airport so it's very easy to get in & out of.

I've been looking for flights to Vegas from NC and they've been really high too. We are trying to fly at the end of July so I'm going to wait it out a few more weeks and see if any sales come up.

I have been looking for flights to Vegas from Detroit in June and I'm finding they are in the $400 range. Hotels are very reasonable, but the airfare is high.

going myself in may your price is about right try spirit airlines out of o'hare i found my flight to be cheaper at spirit than southwest at midway

I would book Southwest, but wait.......

There was a DING the other day for Chicago to Vegas for $99. The DINGS are through May right now.

So, if you wait a month, DINGS will be out for June.

I wouldn't pay $400 to fly to Vegas from Chicago.

I would say anything under $250 would be a good deal.

Southwest doesn't charge for bags and if the price drops, you can change your reservation and get a credit which is good for 1 year.

Keep checking Southwest daily b/c the prices will change.

Good luck!

Try Allegiant from Rockford. About half the price depending on dates.

We live in Rockford, and I have flown Allegiant to Sanford a couple of times. DMIL is flying them to Sanford on our trip this summer. We are driving, so we can pick her up on the way to Disney. :thumbsup2
