Flights of Passage and Disney Officially Suck

I'm confused. Yes the opening was crazy busy but it was very well controlled. What happens in the lines between guests isn't exactly something Disney can control but I thought the opening went as smooth as it could of.

Nothing was ever said about anything happening in line with guests, so I'm not sure what you're looking at.

I was saying Disney could've capped the lines for the ride, like I'm pretty sure they did for the Elsa/Anna M&G.

Park tickets? I haven't heard that. I don't understand why they would need to do that either.

The person I was quoting said that they have a relative or whoever that works GR at AK. They're getting first hand info (passing it to us 2nd hand) at what people were being given. I don't see the need for reimbursing park tickets.

Disney capped how many were allowed into the land though. I felt that worked fine. When you go into a line that long you should know what you're getting into.

And I was asking about park tickets being given out. I don't know why you responded to the second part as I didn't quote you in that.

There was one day that FoP was down for the fire alarms twice in one day and they were dealing with guests who had been in line both times. I agree that it is crazy to give out comp park tickets, but it is happening.

I quoted you because I was talking about it with that particular poster. Seemed like it was in direct correlation. Whatever.

Back to people crying about how Avatarland sucks because the fire alarm did its job.

Like a few of us have said, if you choose to value your time with waiting in a line, knowing the ride is extremely popular and having issues, whatever happens is on you. Disney can and should make a small concession as far as FP or snack or something, but nothing larger, IMHO.

I can see Disney doing something a little more if you have been in line twice and both times it went down. Far as cop the price of a one day park ticket, I think that a little much but something more than a FP to another ride.

I'm sure there's been many people that have had that happen to them on other rides in other parks and they didn't go seeking park ticket reimbursement or whatever. As others have stated and I brought up... Disney needs to use this as a test run now for how to handle the park when the main attractions go down because Star Wars land is undoubtedly suffer a similar fate, and the crowds that are going to show up there are going to dwarf the numbers for Avatar.

I have had it happen to me on The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Tried to ride it twice in one day, then two days later came back and it happen again. My family was joking that we couldn't go there anymore cause it would break down so not to have us on it. Not the same as FOP but we joke about it every time we head over to ride The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh now.

Star Wars Land is going to be crazy. Disney I think did all they could to lower the crowds for Pandora with AP advance days and stuff. But Disney is going to have to look long and hard how to make SW opening not be day waits to get it, cause we all see how people would wait over night for SW.

I'm thinking it may be one of the first times you ever see a capacity closing at DHS, and heaven help the CM's if the rides don't work or malfunction.

Oh yeah, they are going to need a whole new system for managing DHS if Avatar is causing this much trouble

I'm sure they'll improve things but I don't think how they've operated AK and Pandora has been that bad.

Star Wars is a completely different beast, and you know it, lol. There will be people camping out for this one. Star Wars Weekends were super popular, so imagine all those people that are currently with visitation plans on hold until the land opens. I mean, the other 3 parks will be great to visit, but like with new things, there will be huge crowds for ONLY DHS and the Star Wars area of the park. So it's a wonder what they're going to do. I'd have to say looking ahead that they're going to need to start working now on plans for that when it happens, not if.

Pretty snarky response, this was obviously a typo. You have one in your response below as well....

The OP specifically stated that they "just got back from a last minute quick trip to the World". FP's likely were not available.

Asking for a clarification is snarky? What was the statement supposed to say? They discussed it with someone, but didn't give a response to the result. I asked for the result. And yes, I did miss a word - will go back and fix it, thank you.

When Anna and Elsa had their M&G and the lines were super long, didn't they cut the line off at some point? Sounds like they need to do that with FoP until they get everything under control.

We did the A&E M&G when it was at the point of total madness. This was March 2015. CM's had formed a queue outside the gift store that could hold an hours worth of people.

But the line was 6-7 hours long. It snaked from the gift store, around the side, then past the restrooms, then all the way down to mexico. Back at mexico they were stopping the line forming, but it seemed pointless.

The CMs would not allow the line to block any entrances, so they had to form 6 or so "gaps", and allowed guests to cross the gaps in groups.

I get that Disney had no idea it would turn out the way it would. They had planned on the M&G to be a temp, short term thing. And it was one of those things that your kids will say "I want to do that, and nothing else matters". Well, then you wait in that line.

Honestly, the open "free for all" queue worked out since we all took turns "holding the spot".
