A friend of mine will be flying to Disney (MCO) from Seattle diring Spring Break ( 3/30/2006). She will most likely fly on Air Alaska since that is the only airlines offering a non-stop flight.Any Dis'ers out there who are familiar with these airfares? What is a good or average price? She is waiting for a teacher's contract to be signed so she cannot buy until that is finalized. The fare is $464 right now, saw it for$296 a couple of weeks ago but could not commit to the trip at that time. I have flown from Boston many times and know the territory here with the ins and outs of prices. Is there any chance of that $464 coming down again or do you think our window of opportunity for a low fare is gone.......Thanks ahead for any imput on this....... ::MinnieMo

Last year we paid $216pp. This year, it never dropped below $385pp in the 4 months I was watching for our dates. We are flying CO instead. It's a gamble to wait; you really never know what you might see. If she really needs the nonstop, I would just buy it regardless. For us, it was a matter of price this time.

Made the mistake of flying Alaska last fall to MCO and I don't think I can go back to our usual carrier, United, to fly to WDW. The nonstop is obviously much more pleasant. However, if you are looking for price you may have to fly other than AK and you can probably get around $200+ (higher now because of fuel). But, I have seen that if you are willing to fly the AK red eye, it is cheaper. It really isn't a bad deal, leaves around 10pm-ish and gets in at 6:30am, so as it is a nonstop, hopefully you can get some sleep. We are using our frequent flyer miles on this flight in a few months. Leaving MCO around 8:45am.

It is always a gamble. The airfare from Seattle to Orlando over the summer was on the high side 350+. Currently you can get airfare to Orlando for around to $250 for fall travel. I was able to find airfare last spring for about 230 but Alaska is always more. If I didn't have to pay for a family of 5 to go then I would choose Alaska's nonstop flights every time.

Thanks for the replies....now I know that Air Alaska is the highest option ....and I think she is willing to pay. Our plan is the have myself fly in the day before and she will meet me from Seattle the next day (taking that red-eye from the West Coast) at 7:35 am. She has only been to WDW about 25 years ago, when only MK and Epcot were open so in essence this is like a first visit.Of course I am helping her make all our plans with the assistance of all the experts here on the DIS!! ::MinnieMo
