Flights for March 2012

The last 3 years I have gotten weekend flights for March break in May and never saw anything less expensive. If I was willing to go weekdays you can find less expensive flights but this years opening fares out of Buffalo and Rochester were really high.Maybe when Southwest and Jet Blue open up there will be better fares. I did see flights under $350 out of Detroit to Orlando but we are going to LA next year for a change.,

I`ve been looking for LA for March too.... let me know if you do find anything!! Our plan is to fly into LA the Wednesday before March break, spend a few nights there, move to a Disney resort for a few days then a few nights in Vegas and fly out of Vegas the Saturday/Sunday after March break.

Sounds like a fun trip. I want to go to Vegas.

I booked AC before the prices went up $500 the next day so I was happy. We are doing the Wonder out of LA and it a Sunday- Sunday cruise so not a lot of options for a departure after noon that would not get us home too late. The cruise is really inexpensive (DCL wise) so I can spend a little more on airfare:confused:

When I looked a couple of weeks ago direct flights on Delta out of Detroit were less then $350. I was tempted to book but I can't take Monday off.

I usually book when the schedule comes out for Westjet. I did book it for one way, but unfortunately, we were still deciding on the other way and the flight fare went up by $200 per person :mad:so I will have to wait out for the other charter airlines to come out with their schedule.:guilty:

Does anybody know the exact date Southwest releases their March break 2012 fares? June is right around the corner!

This is a guess, but Southwest just released it fares to early Jan 6th, 2012. Prior to this it was early November 2011. So if the pattern is similar in the future, I expect that in less than 2 months we will see fares that run into early March 2012. The question here is how far into March 2012 will this go? Will it only cover the first week of March?

I'm hunting for MCO to MHT for less than 100 taxes and fees in (one way). So less than $400 for four people. This assumes bags fees on top of this ... so a Southwest fare of $120 per person total costs would work. I have also scoped MCO to BOS (would involve a bus trip between MHT and BOS)

I have snagged 4 one ways from MHT to MCO for $392 Cdn (taxes and fees included) ..... now .... I'm waiting and waiting for that right fare. Ted the airfare sniper .... the JTF2 airfare guy. jk

So the flights have just opened up for next year, but... the prices are really, really high! We would be paying almost 2/3 more for what we have paid 2 years ago. Do you think it is just the high gas prices or what? When do you begin to book? Do you think that the prices will go down later on? Thanks!

We too are from the 1000 Islands area. I just booked Direct Air from Plattsburg to Lakeland for January 25th for two weeks. They fly Saturdays and Wednesdays - direct. We paid $800.00 for the four of us. If I had booked their 50% off sale that just ended, it would have been $163.00 pp. My husband has flown out of Plattsburg and it's an easy drive, crossing at Ogdensburg and Plattsburg is a nice little airport with very cheap parking ($3 or $5/day).

Want do you do once you are in lakeland? You rent a car???

We found some great prices with Directair for March 2012 but not sure at all of this company:confused3

Subscribing...need the scoop...we are going March 8 or 9th, 2012.:thumbsup2

We have gone on March break several times and I have always found it best to book as early as possible. We aren't flexible either and I find that the popular dates skyrocket very quickly. If you check in November/December, they have often been near or over $1000/person from Halifax.

If I see anything around $500, I grab it as early as I can. I'm always happy because there are never seat sales or availability for March break dates!

If anyone went over March Break this year (2011) can I ask what you paid for airfare?

I'm only interested in knowing the pricing from either Halifax or Moncton

I'm trying to get an idea of what I can expect to pay....whether I should wait for a potential seat sale....or bite the bullet now and pay $600+ per person (although it is direct both ways ++++).

Thanks

$550.00 has ususally been the price point that I try to stay below. That is including bag fees if there are any. I am just happy that there are only 2 of us to buy tickets for. We are usually gone over Easter and that as well is quite pricey and busy. Good thing we love going and I really enjoy finding deals and planning.

Give it a few months ... the Summer will slow down ticket buying. A sale in July/Aug is likely.

When I bought my March 2010 tickets (March 16 to 29), I paid $329 from Halifax to MCO (taxes and fees in with Continental) ... I did so in December just 2 weeks before xmas, when people are busy buying other things.

Thanks Ted....I'm in no hurry to buy, especially for $600+ per person. I just don't want to get caught paying alot more than that later on while waiting on a "potential" sale
