flights for aug 2008?

When will they be released? I'm confused as to do a package or do it myself where I can be more flexible with the accomodation. But will package prices go up the closer we get?

I'm pretty sure that scheduled flights can only be booked 11 months ahead of travel, so you're looking at September for next August.

Long time no see! how are you? Life is hectic here, DS1 is crawling and into everything and DD4 broke her arm and we had to cancel our holiday to Menorca because of it. The summer holidays have been tough!

I am waiting for Virgin Miles plus Money flights to become available for next Aug. Hope to snap them up as soon as they appear- will probably miss them! DD starts school in a few weeks so it is school holidays for us now.

Hope you get something reasonable booked soon. Dont wait too long, I reckon the prices will get higher rather than lower but people with more experience of August will give you their advice soon I imagine.

I don't know whether to book a fly drive that is available now, ie travelcity direct. Or if this will be a lot more than booking seperately in Sept. HELP, I'm confused!

I am not sure of the answer. I have rarely found it cheaper to book with the airline apart from off peak times when good deals have become available a few months before travel. I know I have got good prices for this May like this. It was an offer in the Daily Mail, we booked it the Nov before.

Normally I book a flydrive with Virgin flights. Sometimes I book through Virgin Holidays, once Funway and for next April through Thomson Tailormade. The availability is often gone with VH when other tour operators still have it. I always compare Fly Drive prices with flight only with Virgin Atlantic but that usually costs more than booking flydrive.

Get some quotes now so you can be ready to compare when the airlines release prices in Sept maybe. Or if you have set dates and find a price that isn't too awful just book it. It is rare to find a reasonable price for August. And i am pretty sure the prices go up as availability decreases.

I hate this whole school holiday thing! Too expensive, too crowded, too much pressure. I will miss travelling in early May and September once DD starts school next month!
