So my DH and I are visiting the DLR July 20-25 and we are staying at HOJO, which we love!!! Got the entertainment rate for 3 of the 5 nights so we are super excited. Prior to us finalizing our dates, I had looked at airfare and the southwest airlines flights were $119 from San Antonio to LAX and back. For the two of us, this would have been $476+tax. When we finally wrote our dates in stone, the flights have gone up =( We can fly into Burbank for $139 and fly out of LAX for $167 for a total of $612+tax. Obviously I would have preferred the first price, but my question is..... with your experience, do you think the flights will go down? I just don't know if we should book now or wait a little bit longer. I certainly don't want them to go up. Also, with your experience with flying southwest, if you fly out of a different airport than you flew into, can you book this online as a roundtrip? I have a promo code for $25 roundtrip so that would save us $50 if we can do it but I don't see on their website how to book that without booking two separate flights. Thanks so much for everyone's help!

Flight prices vary all the time but it's hard to say whether they will go up, down, or stay the same. Since July isn't too far off and it's prime traveling season, my guess is the flights would more likely go up in price. But there's also the chance of a Ding fare too! From my experience the ding fare sales sell out FAST so I would just check everyday and it's a matter of right place, right time if you can snag a ding fare. I'm also in a similar situation. I booked Chicago to orange county from 9/2-9/8 through southwest for 119 one way which was a great deal. Now I need to extend my trip one day to fly home on 9/9 instead of 9/8 and price went up to 185 one way for a total of 132 increase for the change! For now I'm waiting to see if prices go down but our trip is not til september so in crossing my fingers it will go down. And to answer your 2nd question, I don't think you can book roundtrip with doing different airports. I could be wrong but I think it has to be booked as 2 one way flights. Hope this helps and I hope your flight prices go down!!

On the plus side, if you book and the flight price does go down, just call southwest and they will give you a credit!! Woohoo! My mom keeps telling me to just book my flight so if it goes down, I'll have an excuse to go to Vegas! :)

Thanks for your advice! I been checking Ding everyday too!!!!! Most of the flights that I see are between cities that are close to each other so I was giving up on one between San Antonio and LA but I guess there is no way to know. We will probably be going to WDW beginning of next year so we can use the credit for that can't we???? That sounds like a good idea =)

Yup you can use the credit as long as it is before the expiration date that should be listed in your confirmation email. Usually it's one year so if you booked today, flight credit would be good until 5/12/11. Oh and by the way, I just changed my flight and paid the increase difference! Haha! Hopefully I will get a credit and have an excuse to travel somewhere else! ;)

You probably won't see flight prices go down but, as PP said, if you book with Southwest, you can change if the fare does go down and you will have up to a year to use the credit. Now, Burbank is pretty far from DLR - you should factor in the cost of getting to and from each airport to compare total costs.

And on Southwest, you just need to book each leg separately if they involve different cities - they don't have a multi-city option.

Thanks so much, oh and the reason we were flying into Burbank is bc we are doing our see LA that day. Thanks for the multi-city knowledge, that's what I needed to know.
