If your flight is scheduled to arrive before 10pm but doesn't, do you then need to go pick up your luggage? I am under the impression that bags with Disney stickers don't go to the carousal but how does one know if the flight did arrive early enough to not need to pick up the bags?

I've wondered that myself. I think unless *I* could be at baggage claim by 9:45P, I'd plan on picking up my bags myself. My thought is if I can deplane, make a bathroom stop, hit the monorail and make my way down to baggage claim with 15 minutes to go until the cutoff, my bags probably will too. That would mean getting off the plane no later than 9:30. So if my flight is scheduled to arrive after that time, I wouldn't bother with the yellow tags.

Regardless, have everything you'd need for the first 24 hours in your carry on.

For now assume that the time the plane stops at the gate area is the arrival time, unless you see a video screen in a terminal building showing something different.

The same ten o'clock rule applies to everyone on that plane whether first off or last off.

(For international travelers who need to clear or reclear customs in Orlando, if you are futzing with your bag in the customs station and the clock strikes ten then you must carry your bag out of the customs station if permitted, or reclaim it at the carousels.)

If you go to the carousels and do not find your bag, then file a claim with your airline before leaving the area.

I would just leave off the ME bag tags, collect your luggage and head to the bus. That way you know where your luggage is, no reason t9 worry and once you get to the hotel, your bags are with you in the room. I love ME for the free ride to the hotel but I always collect our bags first. For me, it just feels better knowing where they are and being able to unpack as soon as I get to the room. Also if your bags did get lost by airline you would not know for several hours when they didn’t arrive in your room.

I have experienced this personally. One trip when we checked our bags our arrival time was before 10:00 but delays at departure had us landing after 10:00. I opted to go to baggage claim to get my bags. Ironically, one of my bags never made it so I had to go to the airline baggage office and check on it (it'd been left in Atlanta and the airline delivered it when it arrived on a later flight). Since I was there I took the opportunity to ask what the process was for those who didn't come get their bags. I saw that there were a lot of them set off to the side.
If your plane reaches the gate after 10:00, your bags will come to baggage claim.
If you do not go to get them, they'll circle on the carousel until someone from the airlines comes to retrieve all leftover bags.
They have an area where they set aside all of the bags with yellow tags. They remain there until the next morning when the people who provide the bag service for ME (Bags, Inc) come to each baggage office and pick them up. They'll then sort them and send them to your Resort.

Thanks for the info. The issue then just comes down to arriving at the gate at 9:59 and if you go to the carousel you need to wait until all of the bags are on it and you realize yours isn't one of them (but I imagine if you notice NONE of the bags have Disney tags that should be a sign at some point that you can leave). If you judge that you arrived at 9:59 but they say 10 you just get on the bus thinking you are set and they will be delivered in the middle of the night when it fact it will be like 10am or so that they will arrive. I don't have the perfect solution but it looks like there is room for improvement in this process.

I think their process is as good as it gets. They have a cut off for hours of operation. You are only talking about a question for flights arriving in a one or two minute span. The odds of being one of that arrives then are pretty low. If one doesn't want to take the gamble the solution is easy, don't use the tags

This makes me wonder if they would do this for flights that arrive after 10? Like, our flight currently will arrive at 10:30 or so and if we decide we're okay with not having our bags until the next day I wonder if we could go ahead and use the ME yellow tags and they'll still get our bags to us? I'm not really expecting you to KNOW the answer, just kind of pondering out loud.

Can't see why not. If they send tags for a flight scheduled to arrive that late. They'd not have any way to know why your bags came through, if it was a flight that landed late or on time

Yeah this is a little more straightforward if you have a flight expected to arrive just before 10. I'm sure there are plenty of examples where someone had a planned arrival at 8:30 but then with delays at 10:05 and they don't know what they are supposed to do. I'm pretty sure the average person not on these boards still thinks their bags are getting to the room soon after them.

That's exactly what my flight was. And this board had nothing to do with me knowing to go get them. All the paperwork they send clearly say bag delivery ends at 10:00. That's why I went to get them. Now a lot of people don't bother to read what Disney sends them which is why they have a process for getting left bags. That's on them, not Disney or Bags Inc. No idea what else could be done differently?

When I'm arriving later than 8pm, I usually leave tags off and get them myself. Otherwise, I could be waiting until close to midnight to get my bags! I prefer to have them, get settled in and then go to bed.
I don't like the idea of my tagged bags going around and around on that public carousel, pretty much unattended. No way of knowing who might just amble up and take it.
