We leave in 3 weeks (woo-hoo!) for our first stay on-site! We are looking forward to it, an optimistic for a good time. But when I checked in on this forum, I was reminded of the need to prepare myself too.

My 5 yr. old ADHD/SID is a sensory seeker, and a flight risk! He has two speeds -- bouncing/rolling and RUNNING! He also hates holding hands! :moped:

My 8 yr. old (Asp/SID) wanders off b/c he has no sense of boundaries... Add my neurotypical 7 yr. old DD, and the kids outnumber my DH and I!!

IDEAS? Should we rent a stroller and lock the boys up? Will it fit a very tall 8 yr. old? Should we bring a tether even though the 5 yr. old will be ticked? :confused3

What about areas such as the boneyard playground (PG), HISTK PG, Innovations E&W, and other busy areas... Anyone tried those areas w/ flight risks?

Thanks for the help, I'll continue to search the boards for other "flight risk" threads. thanks!

Both the Boneyard and HISTK playgrounds make it VERY easy for a child to disappear quickly! The Histk playground only has one entrance and exit. I am not sure about the Boneyard. Innoventions have some "open" spaces that may encourage running.

The rental strollers at MK and Epcot are much smaller than the old Blue ones. I doubt a tall 8 year old would fit. If you want to go the stroller route you may want to consider renting off site. I think there are links in the stickee at the top of this board.

Get a double stroller and lock them in. There are several but Orlando is one mentioned in FAQs that is highly recommended. Also get them harness and leashes. That way the can run around and have fun without you loosing them. Make sure they have ID on them so they can returned, especially the number of your cell phone and any triggers or allergies.

Harnesses are best because a wrist band tends to pull on the arm. Not sure about which playgrounds have one exit or two. The others will be around to help you later, I am sort of the cheerleader around here. You are not alone with "runners" as we call them around here.

boneyard only has one entry exit but you have a very limited view of the kids even if you're standing under the play structures. It can be quite disconcerting. However, for a kid who likes the freedom of being "gone" this might quell his thrist for a bit....
just station you inside and dh outside by the entrance. :)

Great info! Thank you both!! :flower3:

Thank you for the info. about the new strollers being smaller, I had assumed they would be bigger than the baby joggers from Orlando, but perhaps not! You saved me a surprise at the World!

THANKS again! :)
