Flight Prices

It never fails to amaze me how flight prices vary from day to day. We booked flights to Orlando for our upcoming October / November trip via CO and paid just over £2000 for two adults and two children , the same economy flights today are just under £4000 for the same flight times. I suspect this means our outbound flight is full as the price does drop if you chose the later flight. glad we booked quite early. Question - Can they bump us to the later flight if they find people willing to pay the hugely inflated price for the early flight????

Hiya!! I've been thinking very similar the last week or so! We had been looking at holidays for next march (through virgin and TCD) and when we were ready to book the package had gone up by almost !£2000 for all of us (5) due to flights! I rang to check if this was a mistake and was told we were. Now being quoted as premium economy as all normal economy seats were full!

We've ended up booking for our 2nd choice of late August (2013) but have noticed since that March has come back down again. It took about a week and the flight times seem different so don't know if they've added an extra flight due to demand but I'm pretty much guessing they can't just bump you off your flight if you're already booked in!! Or am I just being naive??

I'm going to try and stop looking now anyway, just in case they come down instead of up!!!

well they certainly bumped us off the early VA flight from Gatwick in 2011 and never said why, just texted and emailed me. I just thought that as it was Feb they just wanted to make one flight full or something but no, when we got to the airport the other flight was still going!!! Yet another reason why I am not loyal to VA anymore.

My in laws suffered the same fate! although they came up trumps, VA emailed them and told them they were being moved to the later flight (They assumed the first flight wasn’t going) on the day the first flight WAS going and left on time, the flight they had been bumped to left 4 hours late!! My father in law not taking this well complained to VA, they fortuitously got a first class upgrade from PE.

Wow!! That's shocking isn't it!! so I am just very naive then! Ah well I guess all we can do is live in hope it doesn't happen to us ..... Although an upgrade to first class may make up for a few hours wait!

I must admit I have turned into a complainer now! We even lost our seat allocation on the revised flight so ended up paying extra for extra leg room seats as well!!! I have just finished an email to Virgin Hols because they are offering free V-Room for bookings at the moment..We decided that we would email them and complain and see what happens as we have spent a fortune with them over the years and that we could do it so much cheaper booking DIY..we shall see!!
