Hi

I was looking at flight prices for the week of Christmas and the price seems very high. I like the idea of being at Disney for New Year Eve and celebrating at our resort. I was planning on booking a flight -Departure December 30 to Return January 6th.

The cost of the flight (with Air Canada or WestJet) is over $ 3,000 for myself, my wife and 2 daughters. I was surprise when I saw that number.

I live close to Ottawa so I would prefer a direct flight from Ottawa Airport to Orlando Airport.

Is there any chance that the price will decrease or is this a wishful thinking! Any suggestions?

Thanks

Great idea going for New Years, have done it several times, flight prices are very high. If you are getting flights for 700/800 per person that is not bad. We have flown out of the US a few times for great prices, if that is not an option you might consider a WestJet MasterCard that will give you a companion flight for 99.00 plus taxes and first bag free for everyone in your party. There could be some seat sales after Christmas, hit and miss. Good luck with the search.

I saw that WestJet MasterCard deal. If I apply and my wife apply, do you think we could get two companion flight for both our daughters?

I booked for this last New Years (Dec 28-Jan 4) the third week of March last year. I found the flight prices to be similar to what you were finding, but tried various search engines. I was able to find flights for 4 of us through Hotwire for $1546.00(USD) on Westjet from Toronto to Orlando (return). It was going to cost more than that to fly out of Buffalo and we were thrilled with the price! Just keep looking...a good price will come along!!

I just booked direct flights with WJ for Jan 1 to 12 from Winnipeg to Orlando. $662 pp but with the $99 companion fare and my WJ$ I ended up paying $1322 for 4. Probably could've waited for a sale but I wanted the direct flight and our dates are not flexible.

I am also watching for the same timeframe out of Toronto. Right now they are all over 4K for 4 of us. Patiently waiting for some kind of deal. :)

You can have 2 WJ cards but they will be separate accounts thus you have to pay the annual fee for both. The DW wife and I both have cards and are using both companion flights for our upcoming march break flights out of Toronto.

Prices this year are very high. We are going down for a family Christmas vacation on Dec 15'th and coming home on the 31'st. I got six tickets through Airmiles. I booked one way for both segments and though it cost me nearly 4,000 more Airmiles doing it that way I am glad that I did as if I had waited till the return segment to book it was over 4,500 Airmiles per ticket. I have the Westjet CC so today I booked my wife's and my ticket and it was close to $900.00 for two tickets with the $99.00 companion fee. I consider that a good deal as it is free luggage and I don't have to fly A/C Rouge. Will leave that to children/grandchildren. I do recall this past December that Air Transat had a special on but that leaves it to late for me.

You also get some medical and trip interruption with the card as well. I also have a TD travel rewards card I use to supplement our trips with. Agree about AC Rouge one of the most uncomfortable planes I have been on.

We have done Xmas the last 4 years. First year Dec 23rd too jan 2nd from Flint, Mi. $89 there, 79 back US. The next 3 out of Buffalo, ny. Always under $300 rt. Thus year we went Dec 18th to Jan 1st $79 down, $105 back. I didn't book them til Aug/Sept.

I think this year we will wait for the Southwest flights, free bags and no change fees. Helps with the budget too as I still have to pay for March Break!
