Is there a preferable place to request to sit on this ride? With the wait times as long as they are we will only be doing his once, if we are lucky. I want to make it count.

I keep thinking of Soarin and how I didn't know the first time I rode that row 1 was a better experience....in my opinion anyway.

Can anyone help/make recommendations?

Your help is greatly appreciated!!

I would say every seat is as good as the next since everyone is on the same level in a row. It's amazing. Enjoy!

I haven't gone on the ride yet but I think the more towards the center the better the view you have.

There's 3 different levels.

But I agree that all views are virtually the same

Really? I was on FOP on Saturday and we were all in a straight line - I was all the way on the left and felt completely immersed - if there are different levels, I didn't notice it.

Three levels with two "rooms" on each level.

You walk through one room to get to the other, they are side by side but different angles.

And four theaters.

This is during construction, only some "banshees" are installed but you can see the three levels and right/left rooms.

Aha - I must have been on the bottom level then, or just too excited to notice!

It's not obvious at all from loading, although I think the top level has to use stairs.

I rode FOP on all the levels in one day (3.5 times, yes .5 as ride broke and we were given 2 additional fastpasses for it). It is slightly better on level 3.
But in my opinion seating in either seats 1 or 16 is NOT as good by a long shot. Seats 7,8 and 9,10 were for sure preferred
Have a great ride.

Which is exactly the point
There are different levels but it doesn't matter

With Soarin if you are at the extremities of the screen it doesn't look right..I assume this has been fixed with the FOP seating arrangement?

It didn't need fixing due to a difference in what you are viewing

I thought the bottom level was the best. Regardless of level, avoid the 'end' seats number 1 and 16, maybe 2 and 15 as well. Seats are actually kind of self-selected two rooms before you board when you choose which numbers to stand on during the orientation video. They tell you basically where to go, but there is some shifting around as well.

You can go out of your way on the ride to look but if you're not trying, you won't notice. My second ride I leaned forward some and saw the row above me. But it's not as noticeable as Soarin.

You'll know what level you're on by where you walk when the CM directs you to a number. If you walk straight then go up stairs you're on the top level, straight ahead you're on middle level, or to the right and down the ramp you're the lower level

Great picture HopperFan!

For my first flight last Friday I was picked out of line as a single rider and filled in the last seat in the middle level. FoP's screen is so full of complex images and I was so distracted by the intensity of the ride I did not notice being at the edge of the screen. Unlike Soarin' where it is immediately obvious when you sit off center.

What I also found is let your head be fluid with the ride and keep your glasses where you are looking direct through. A couple times I tilted my head down and looked out at more of an angle (like readers or bifocals) and I found the focus was off. Minute I moved head back up it was fine.

Not sure what this means but it sounds like a good thing...i'll just have to wait and see I guess.

thanks

Combination of the uniqueness of the ride and good CGI animation.

Soarin' is a bust because the bulk of it is CGI that was not created with the round screen in mind. I have no idea how they screwed that up but they did. The first Soarin' did not have that problem because it was shot with cameras only.

I've been on the ride about 15 times at this point and have been on all 3 levels multiple times. I actually prefer the bottom level. It just feels closer to action and more involved. But there isn't a major difference in experience like you see on Soarin' where row B-1 is vastly preferred and all other rows give a (sometimes significantly) worse experience.

As for seats on each level, seats 7, 8, 9, and 10 would be the middle seats. They tend to not split up smaller groups between the rooms, so if you have a party of 4 and want to be more centered you can ask if you can go in 5 through 8 or 9 through 12. Again, though, it doesn't matter all that much. I've been in seats 1 and 16 (the far edges) and have not noticed the edge of the screen at all like you do on Soarin' if you are stuck in the row 3 corner seats. The screen on FOP wraps around a lot more than Soarin' does.
