Flight linking question

We leave next month. Realized a few days ago that I had enough miles to upgrade to first on delta for one of us. Spoke to customer service about doing miles for me and cash for DH and 2 kids. She had to give me separate record locator and kept them on the original. She linked us as a travel party. Our seats are booked and all together. I am seated next to my 7 yo. She reassured me we would not be separated and would all be changed if there was a flight schedule change. Now that it’s done I am super nervous that having 2 record locators could cause issues. I called back today and another rep told me she sees our reservations linked and we are one travel party. Anyone have experience linking reservations with their children?

If there’s an equipment (the actual plane slated for your flight) change, the seats could change. Keep a close eye on it. No airline seems to have a handle on how to quickly tell everyone impacted by such a change.

And that could have happened even with all of you together.


Just reread. I soooo would have sat husband and kids together while you go have a relaxing flight away from them.

HA! May definitely need a seat by myself after our vacation

I am only concerned as our seats are 2 and 2. My 7 yo is afraid to fly and her ears really bother her during landing. I think she would not do well sitting by herself. I am going to hope the Delta reps are telling me the truth and we should be fine!

We have done this many times on Delta (booking separate due to using miles) and have had two record numbers with linked reservations and have never had an issue. We have even had flight changes/adjustments and all 4 of us have stuck together with any changes.

Don’t hope. Watch. Make sure IF there are changes that you’re on the phone fast to fix it.

Oh yes, I am a constant checker. I think I have checked our flights and seats 3x/day since I made the change. I am easily obsessed!!
