Just wondering if this is usually a busy time? Our flight is leaving at 9:40 am and trying to estimate time to get through security. We will be staying at Hyatt MCO which might help. I am just not sure what the normal time for this airport might be?

Thanks in advance.

TSA staffing is based on expected passenger levels. There can be long lines any day or any time, even when the airport is less busy.

Also, keep in mind that most flights now operate at or near full capacity. The era when flights on Sunday mornings were empty is over, especially at leisure destinations.

Lines at MCO tend to be worse that at most other U.S. airports. It seems to be due to awkward security layouts and many infrequent passengers who haven't learned how to go through the TSA checkpoints efficiently.

Agree about the lines at MCO. Our home airport is Philly and we have flown several times to Vegas, San Diego and San Francisco (plus 1 LAX) over the last 6 years. None of them are a cakewalk but MCO beats them all.
Never seemed like enough lines are open

I'd budget at least 30 minutes to clear security. Whatever you do, don't cut it too close as you don't want to still be in line while your flight is leaving.:faint:

The two most recent flights out of MCO I spend 30-40 minutes in security lines.
Just keep in mind if you miss your flight you the next available flight might not be for a day or so.

I will plan for at least an hour then. I don't like to rush!!

Thanks

For a 9:40 flight, I would be heading to security by 8:15ish.
