We are already planning our July 2013 trip, as we want to get our villa booked and get saving. We are trying to decide on dates. Schools he finish on the Tuesday, if we went the Saturday before they broke up do you think it would save us any money or not really? Hope that makes sense!

As a teacher, our INSET days aren't confirmed until nearer the end of the previous school year. It's likely that those two days in July would make up part of our INSET as most schools like to teach in full weeks. Are the staff training days marked on the school term dates calendar yet?

Because of the above - even though each school can determine their own term dates - it's likely to be as much, if not more expensive, to fly on the Sarurday rather than a weekday during the following week.

I am a teacher two, but part time, and don't teach mon and tues, so was hoping to sneak off early ;)

I'm no expert but, if you take this year's dates as an example, our schools break up on the Monday and school holiday starts on Tuesday.

Direct flights with VA on the Saturday before are about £30 per person more expensive than flights on the Monday. So, overall, it will probably only be about £100 cheaper for your family than flying on the Tuesday (based on current flight prices). For comparison, we are going in the middle of August (fly out on 11th and back on 30th) this year and our flights were about the same price. August (particularly the end) would be less crowded - is there a particular reason you want to go in July?

Sam turns three in August is the main one! It is our wedding anniversary on 27 July so I really want to celebrate over there. :goodvibes

Tuesdays are generally the cheapest day to fly. That close to school holidays the prices will be pretty standard but will be higher at weekends.

Prices still seem high beginning of July.

Where do you fly from?

I think some scottish families use Manchester and they break up earlier. Also private schools will have finished early July.

Usually flying midweek is cheaper than a saturday - we are going on a monday this year for a sunstantial saving.
