Flight Dilemma (Specific)

Air fare prices are crazy high in Canada :( My next trip would be a winter trip and I am kinda worried about booking a flight out plattsburgh and what happens if there is a snow strom :O

I fly from both...depends on time of year (don't do Buffalo in the winter) and of course fares!

We crossed the border this past Saturday...driving to NYC not for a Buffalo flight. At 7:00 am the wait was over an hour and they pulled a whole row of vehicles (about 25 cars) for random (at least that's what they said) search and xray. Heaven knows how long that might have taken and it crossed my mind then that if anyone had a flight departing they might just be toast!

Tonight we came back..crossed at Fort Erie and the wait back into Canada was an hour before we got to the part where it branches off for Nexus. Had we not had Nexus...we most defintely had another 30 mins there in that part of the line.

The border is becoming a pain..so unless you head down the night prior and hotel it, you just never know what can happen. Just my 2 cents..

Difference of opinion clearly...
We flew out of buffalo last dec and love it! We had 5 tickets and save over $1000.00 vs flying out of Toronto. We are going this year in dec and 5 tickets direct flight is $220.00 each tax in. I still need to pay for the baggage fees but we take only 3 bags down as we share with the little ones and use the laundry facilities at the Disney resort.
By the way the best western in buffalo allows 5 people in one room and for $100 a night they include parking for a week.
I just flew out of Toronto in June and the parking for a week was $90.00.
The positives of flying out of buffalo is the flight is a domestic flight. We were out of the airport and on the bus to Disney in less than 30mins. The last time we fly from Toronto it took an 1hr 1/2 as we had to go through security once we arrived in Orlando.
The negatives, the drive back after the vacation but the extra 1 hr 1/2 is worth the savings.

It seems AirTran has the best pricing that I have seen so far. Southwest, and JetBlue both were higher.
Good luck... We have 130 days to go.... That's ok as I need to get in shape before we walk 100 km throughout the parks,
