Report in WHICH party reported in the News of the world today show flight delays increasing and the top five are:-

  1. X L Airways, they are part of TCD. average 35.27
  2. Monarch Charter average 33.31
  3. Virgin Atlantic average 28.56
  4. Thomas cook airlines average 25.49
  5. First choice airlines 25.49

Most of these are involved in flying to Florida or other parts of the USA, there have been many threads on Virgin delays and this confirms them in 3rd position now, not good.

My travels I had a 6 hour XL delay and a 8 hour Virgin delay.

we too struggled last year with virgin, 4 hour delay leaving (partly due to a bomb scare in airport) which meant we arrived 5 hours late:confused3
still, they were really good and we love the way they are with our autisitc hcild, so we are still flying with them next year.
delays are sometimes not their fault, its how they handle the customers which makes a difference to me, I like virgin, just my opinion.

Yes its sometimes not their fault and its how they look after you and keep you informed, but it not good to be at the top of the list,as other airlines have the same problems.

being informed is always a good idea.we were delayed at mco one year but were only told why after person with gun was found,in that case was thankfull we dident know as panic would have ensued

I am glad I have booked BA now, a least I will leave prompt, but maybe my luggage will arrive a few days late.

None of those are actually bad statistics, 30 mins late for a flight is not bad in todays world. More importantly would be the way they are made up, i.e ll flights may be near that, or there may be a greater level of longer delayed flights balalnced iout by ontime flights. Most importantly is the way that the airline treats you if there is a delay.

They are 'average' times so some better some worse.

Our last trip to Orlando we were delayed 9 and a half hours! Was travelling with mytravel. Thought it was gonna be much worse than it was though. Time passed quicker than we thought, used the games arcade and took it in turns to sleep.

Was slightly annoyed though, because mytravel knew we were gonna be delayed for a while, as the problem stemmed from a technical problem with the flight from the uk. When we checked in for our flight, it hadnt even left the UK!

I felt worse for the staff working in sanford, as they had to stay on at work to keep the food court and duty free open!

I think mytravel should have left us at the hotel, not necessarily with a room, but we would have been free to go do something on I drive to pass time
