Flight check-in and boarding pass - Southwest

Last trip, my sister-in-law and I checked in for our SW flight home while we were in the Carousel of Progress. LOL!

We’ve been staying at the Swan since we started flying SW so IDK if the Magical Express system checks you in automatically.

Do you always sign up for ME back? They will only do it for those who sign up for ME

Yes I sign up for DME RT every time.
Going next month and just received my DME info/yellow luggage tags and the piece of paper has the flight info for my RT flight.
Maybe I'll hold off on checking in exactly at 24 hours longer than I have in the past just to see what happens especially because its not that big of a deal to me if I don't get amazing boarding positions.

We did not receive boarding passes at Pop. That is the first time I have not received them.

We just left AoA on Sunday, 1/7. We did not receive them in our initial DME notification envelope the morning before checkout, because it was not 24 hours before our flight. But we checked in during the day, and when we got back that night, a new envelope was on our door, with the boarding passes. We use mobile boarding passes, so we don't need the paper ones, but they were there.

Just wanted to clarify my earlier post...there seems to be some confusion, three things are being discussed here. RAC , DME, and ECBI are three separate things. RAC=check your bags at the resort with airport workers, they will not check you in unless you go there and ask them to, they will print boarding passes for you, it's the same as if you check in at the airport. You do not have to use DME to use RAC. DME=Will check in for your flight and print boarding passes, not necessarily right at the 24 hour mark, you can check your luggage at RAC or take them on the bus with you. ECBI is a paid service through SWA and you will be checked in before 24 hours automatically, no need to do it again. You can print boarding passes anytime after the 24 hour mark at the resort, RAC, or the airport if not using DME. SWA does not care how you or your luggage gets to the airport, you do not have to use RAC or DME. If using DME, I would either buy EBCI or check in on the app exactly 24 hours before, it could make a big difference on your boarding number.

I hadn't notice anyone confusing them. Must have missed something

But I was told that just doing ECBI didn't eliminate your needing to do the check in online. Only eliminated your need to do it at 24 hours to get a boarding position

It was told to me that you still would need to hit the online check in function to confirm to the airline that you do intend to keep your flight

Since we never buy ECBI I've never tested it but according to others here I'm wrong and you have no need to go through the online check in process. Just show up at the airport and get a boarding pass or get it from RAC (though theirs rarely scan for the TSA so you may want to plan to reprint)

Oh, yes, I had forgotten that people have mentioned this often, so I wanted to report that our SW boarding passes printed by the DME desk at AoA worked just fine last week. I'm sure it's still hit or miss.

Since each RAC desk has their own printer I'm sure it has to vary. We just stop at the counter on our way in and pop by a machine and reprint ours. At least until they can bother to get their system to do e-boarding passes for reservations with multiple people
