I don't know what else to do! I've cleaned, I've disinfected, I vaccumed, I've Swiffered, I've taken out the garbage, but these darned flies wont go away. They are small and hang around the bathroom vanity area!

I'm convinced it has something to do with my NASTY roomate. Never had this problem with my roomates last year

Any ideas? My friend said it could be drain flies? I poured some boiling water down the drain and am going to buy some Drano as well (I'll need it even without the flies -- my roomates sheds so much BLEEPING hair I'm surprised the drain isn't clogged; literally it's worse than my sisters ever were :confused3 )

They sound like fruit flies. Do you have a fruity type of toothpaste, soap or bath gel that could be attracting them? Scrub your bathroom GOOD and get rid of everything fruity that is not sealed up. You can spray bug spray for them too (just make sure you cover up the toothbrushes!).

Good luck!

We get them and they are a pain. I hate the fact that you go to smash them and think yoiu hit 'em, but they get away every time!

On the view this morning?? I saw them say to leave some wine in a bowl and they will be attracted to it and drown.

You know when I looked at the title of this thread I thought it said files and since I am having trouble getting rid of some of the files on my computer I opened it. :rotfl:

i've had fruit flies once or twice and solved it by putting out a bowl of water mixed with dishsoap. the flies were attracted to the sweet smelling soap, flew in and drowned.
recently my boyfriend had an infestation and it was so bad my trick didn't work. he tried the suggestion on this site:
http://www.uky.edu/Agriculture/Entomology/entfacts/struct/ef621.htm
and it was successful!
good luck!

Theyre the drain flies....I successfully got rid of them a few weeks ago, and they came back now...only a few so far. At first I tried the apple cider vinegar trick I read about here, and they didnt care. They were SO annoying, cuz they were a little bigger and faster than a fruit fly, and one at a time were around the drains or the food. Oh, and they also liked my DDs diaper pail (yuck!). Anyway, I bought some liquid plumber foam, and poured it in all the drains followed by really hot water. I did this for 2 nights and they slowly went away. Good luck, cuz I know they are really annoying.

Have you ever heard of the "Amityville Horror"? :rotfl:
Sorry, I couldn't help it. I know I'm of no help but I hope you get rid of them soon.

I have some "sugar scrub" and I'm afraid to use it for this reason! Does your roommate use something like that?

I wonder what kind of flies we have. For a few days now in our house we have been bugged (pun intended ;)) by one fly at a time. They are a little bigger and rounder than regular house flies. I never see more than one at a time. When we kill one, a few hours later I see another one flying around, so I think the one I keep killing is comming back to life. ;)

We have these same small flies, too. They're not fruit flies, because they don't seem to "hang around" fruit. Mine like the bathroom vanity also. I've noticed they are sort of red color and have big wings.

They are driving me CRAZY!!! :confused3 I've cleaned everything and don't leave any trash around at all. Everything is in sealed bags, bread is in the fridge, no food on counters. I'm going to try the liquid plumber tonight with the hot water. Hopefully that will work.

It's funny, because just when you think they're gone, you sit down to eat and THERE THEY ARE AGAIN!!!

ARGH!!!

We have these tiny little flies. They seem to be attracted to light. They are driving us crazy. Can't figure out where or why we are having them.

Get a venus fly trap

:rotfl:
Walmart had them in the Garden center a month ago and DD really wanted one. I guess I should have gotten it for her. :rotfl:

Seriously they do work. We have one in our kitchen :rotfl:

Did you just get a little one? That is what Wal-mart was selling. I have never seen them anywhere else.

I just did a google search and also found these.
Nepenthes Ventrata - Pitcher plants.

Too cool.
