Flavors of Fun - A Food-Filled Dining Report (with pictures!!)

We cheated in Australia since the line was long and they had a perfectly nice wine kiosk that we could order from that did not have a line. So JE had the Shiraz (8) and I had the Rose Pinot. I apologize that I have no idea what winery these were from but I really did not enjoy the Rose Pinot. I gave it a 4. However to be fair, I don't like Rose. So not quite sure why I ordered it! :confused3

Then on to Germany for one of my favorites!

Spaetzle w/ Creamy Mushroom Ragout:

I gave it an 8. I'm not a fan of mushrooms so I gave most of mine to EE, but I just love Spaetzle!

I skipped eating in Italy, but I did have the Tantinel Prosecco (8)

PP had the Pizza with Sausage

HEY! He took a bite out of it before picture time!

JE had the Baked Ziti and the Placido Chianti

They gave the Pizza a 5 and the baked ziti a 7. This booth wasn't our favorite for food, but me and EE are Italian so we are a little picky!

However EE did enjoy her Cream Puff with Mascarpone and Gianduja Chocolate (8), she thinks it went very nicely with the Prosecco:

Then on to Ireland for a few of my favorites!

I had the Potato Leek Soup with a Dubliner Cheese Stick:

SO yummy!!! I gave it a 9, although I was very unhappy when JE stole my Cheese Stick!

The we shared the Boxty with Bacon Chips and Kerrygold Garlic & Fresh Herb Butter:

Another 9, it was like a potato pancake filled with yummy goodness!

Then I had the Irish Cheese Selection:

As you can tell I love cheese so I gave it a 9!

Me and JE also shared a Guiness, I think we could have stayed at the Ireland booth all day!

UP NEXT: America!

I pretty much think Prosecco goes nicely with everything but the cream puffs from Italy were very good. The only thing at the booth that I don't feel we could make better but like SS says we are Italian so we are tough to please!

I didn't order my own food at the Ireland booth but I tasted SS and JE's and I shared in on the guiness fun :)

Those egg rolls sound fab! Where's the egg roll cart?

Great start to a fun report. Love the additions from sis!

Mother of Pearl!!! :scared1:

You guys finished the Kitchen Sink!?! No one ever does that ... :thumbsup2

This is a fun report so far - I'm looking forward to the rest!

Count me in-great so far. I am hoping this will help me get through the next 33 days until I will be there myself :yay: :dance3: :cheer2:

:cool1: WOW now that is some food my MY list!
:snooty: away with the TS/$$ food, just give me ice cream. cheese and meat!~ can you tell i am from Wisconsin??
i had to look at the Pecos bill menu on allears so i could add it to my " travel folder" - it's a must stop now!!
cannnot wait for more reviews!

Tina

enjoying your reviews/photos so far!

you sure did "hit up" that fixin's bar there!!

I'm so glad everyone is enjoying the reviews! I didn't realize how long the food and wine day would take to post! But I love re-living it! However, it's making me very hungry! I can't believe I was there a week ago today!

Enjoying your reviews and pics. The Boxty looks really good, I'm disappointed I missed that one on our f&w festival day. Definitely one to try next time if it's still on the menu.

I apologize that Day 2 is taking me so long to complete! Work gets in the way of everything!

Ok, we stopped at the Pearville Fair, which was actually quite a good time! But I think all of the beverages up to that point may have contributed to that! PP bought a pear, but I'm not sure what kind. I got a Pear/Wine/Cheese Pearing Wheel that I fully intend to use! At least that's what I said when I bought it!

We took a much needed break to see the Voices of Liberty (LOVE THEM!) and the American Adventure!

We skipped the Hops and Barley booth since Beer seemed too filling at that point so we headed straight to San Francisco!

Me and JE had the Roasted Beet Salad with Goat Cheese:

I thought it was good, I gave it a 7, although you can pretty much put Goat Cheese on anything and I'll love it!

We also had the Seared Beef Medallion with Cheddar Cheese Polenta:

That was really good! The Beef was tender, and I just love Polenta so I enjoyed it and rated it an 8! Me and JE also had the Dynamite Vineyards Merlot, it looks like I gave it a 7, but I don't remember much about it.

Then on to Tokyo! I didn't have any food at this booth and even though I had intended to have the Plum Wine...Me, JE, and EE all had the Ozeki Dry Sake! I'm a big Sake fan and this was good. Strong! but good! PP had to finish EE's. We took a picture of us enjoying our sake, but it's definitely too embarrassing for me to post!

We skipped the New Zealand booth for reasons unknown, but I'm pretty sure Johnny Empanada had something to do with it!

SO it was on to Morocco!

I had the Grilled Beef and Hummus in a Pita Pocket:

Yummy! I gave it an 8, looks like I also had some wine with it, I believe that was the Guerrouane Red.

EE had the Chicken Brewat Roll:

She seemed to enjoy it and gave it a 7!

PP had the Walnut Baklava:

PP also got the Iced Mint Tea which I tried and it was fabulous!! I gave it a 9! It was super refreshing!

The next booth was Louisiana!

I skipped this booth, but JE had the Praline Bread Pudding:

Not the best picture but he liked it and gave it a 7!

Then on to France! One of my favorite booths!! But first I had to stop to get a Grey Goose Slushie! I had never had one before and it didn't disappoint!

That's me enjoying the Grey Goose Slushie by a dumpster! I have issues! But I rated it a 10!

Then Me and JE had the Goat Cheese and Leek Quiche:

This was sooooo good! A solid 9!

Of course Elsie Escargot had to have the Escargot Persillade en Brioche:

She loved it! and according to my very official rating scale she either gave it an 8 or a 10! She'll have to let me know since I can't read my writing!

Only 5 booths left!! We can do this!

Next up was Turkey! In previous years this is typically the point we give up, lose focus, or forget what we are doing, but I was determined to make it to the end!

I had the Manti with Yogurt Sauce:

I thought it was very yummy and I gave it an 8. We also had the Selection Kirmizi Red wine (8)

Then on to Canada for one of my favorites - Cheddar Cheese Soup:

You can't really see the soup in the picture but you can see the Chateau des Charmes Merlot (8). I gave the soup an 8 as well. I have never been to Le Cellier so I have to have this fabulous soup in a dixie cup, but it works for me!

On to Greese!

Well, it looks like I stopped rating things at the last 3 booths! But I remember how yummy everything was!

In Greese I had a Spanakopita:

Super yummy and flaky! We had that with the Cabernet Sauvignon-Agiorghitiko Blend

Then in Poland we had the Kielbasa and Potato Pierogies:

I love Pierogies!! These were very good! I had mine with the Chopin Vodka Raspberry Cocktail:

The cocktail was very yummy! and probably went down a little too smoothly!

Wow! I am so impressed by your gastronomical prowess! I look like I should be able to eat and or drink that much or more, but usually a chicken wing and a little bit of sides will fill me up. One drink I'm happy, two I'm drunk and three I'm face down om the floor!
So I'm impressed and loving this! :worship: :worship: I loved pecos bills and shrooms and onions were awesome!
Looking forward to more!

Just thought I would follow up on Susie Saki's post! The escargot is one of my favorite parts of Food & Wine! It's also the only time I've had escargot but it's so buttery, and garlicky and I love how it's in the bread now so good! And so tender!

The brewat was pretty good and I am with SS the Mint Tea was so refreshing. Earlier in the festival PP got it for me when I had an upset stomach and wow it worked like a charm.

I did hand my sake off to PP but mostly because I was in the sobering up phase so I could drive us home and JE insisted that he purchase me a sake so I handed it to PP and he drank it as a shot!

The kielbasa and pierogies are another festival must do and in my opinion this year was the best because the kielbasa was crispy just shy of burnt which is how I like it!!

You're doing a great job SS!!

Ok, so I had to stop posting for a bit because of technical difficulties, but our last booth was Puerto Rico!

Someone, I believe PP, had the Mofungo:

I had the Plaintain and Beef Casserole:

I remember it being very yummy! And I apologize for using that word so much to describe the food, but sometimes yummy just sums it up best!

The drinks in the picture were JE's Frozen Pina Colada and my Frozen Mojito!

I LOVE Mojitos and never had a frozen one before! It was really yummy!!

Don't even ask about the hat!

One more time on Spaceship Earth and that was the end of our day!

It was a fabulous day that lived up to all of hopes for my 3rd Food and Wine Festival!! My challenge next year will be not to skip any booths!!

Up next: Tusker House Breakfast!

Enjoying your reviews and pics! Thanks for sharing! :goodvibes

We just got back and I just found this thread...great job!!!:thumbsup2

So glad you are enjoying the reviews and pics! I'm so happy to be finished posting our food and wine day!

I really wish I could find a job as a professional eater! I've had enough experience!! It takes a lot for me to be full!

PP did indeed get the mufungo and I didn't like it at all! But PP loved it. I also tasted both JE's pina colada and SS's Mojito both very good! It was a great day but wow I was so full when we got home and I was almost worried I wouldn't be able to eat at Tusker House the next morning!!

Fabulous updates - I love that Grey Goose Slushie in France - yummy ;)

I usually get the Gran Marnier Slush in France but I took a sip of SS's and it's not bad at all. I don't love lemonade so that might be why I don't love this drink :)

Pecos Bill's has MUSHROOMS???? Updating my lunch list now. Seeing all of the F&W foods is making me really hungry. Wonder how I can fit all of that into my Thanksgiving menu without anyone noticing. Great review!

I love the hat!

I think it is most fitting after a day of sampling around the "world"!

I haven't tried the Grand Marnier one but you can rest assured it's on the list for our next trip ;)

Loving the reviews!!! Man, if i didn't want to go to the Food and WIne Fest already..you would have sold it to me!! SO much yummy goodness !!! :goodvibes
