Flavoring your water, or filter??

Has anyone tried those little packets of drink mix that are made specifically to go into a standard .5L water bottle? I saw some recently but can't remember who makes them. Looks like a good thing for traveling.

I'm normally a purist when it comes to drinking water (as in not adding any flavor or sweetener), but knowing how treated the water is at WDW, I'm considering adding a little something to hopefully improve its potability!! :crazy2: We are a family of 5 and I simply cannot afford to buy all the bottled water we would need in the parks every day! That's why I'm looking at refilling at the fountains.

I've also read about those Brita filter bottles. How well do those work?

Thanks for any feedback!

There are several brands of those individual flavor packets...crystal lite makes lemonaide, rasberry tea (or something like that) and one other flavor that I've seen...I'm picky and only like strawberry kiwi flavor but in a pinch the're ok. Kool aide also makes cherry, lemonaide and orange (at least)...they are ok too.

The Crystal Light packs are great. They are sugar free, and my kids love them. We saw the KoolAid packets in the store the other day and my DS9 said he'd rather have the Crystal Light! We especially like the orange flavor. Also, WalMart has a store brand called "Great Value" that makes the same thing. All the flavors we've tried have been just as good as the brand name.

We love the "Great Value" Lemonade. If I remember correctly they are $1.74 for 10 packets. I have seen Crystal Light ON SALE 2 for $7.00
That's a little steep for me and the Walmart brand is just as good! :thumbsup2

My kids love the Kool-Aid singles. Here, (Canada) I have found them only in cherry, orange and grape flavours, but I've also bought tropical punch in the U.S. I've never tried Crystal Light for kids, but it sounds like they'd probably like those too. I plan to bring lots of them to the parks when we go.

I was fortunate one time to find the Crystal Light ones on sale 2 for $3 recently...I grabbed a couple!

We buy the Target Store brand - Market Pantry. The Peach Tea and Strawberry Lemonade are really good.

Love Love Love the Great Value orange sunrise drink......yummy! I take those little packets with me everywhere....even when I'm not at a disney Park! This flavor even has some nutrients too!

I love the country time brand ones. I'm a person who can't stand art. sweeteners so Crystal light and walmart brands are out for me. I might have to check out Target I love strawberry lemonade. My DH likes Kool aide ones. Also true lemon or lime is a nice flavor enhancer to water. It tastes like a sqeeze of lemon/lime in your water.

Typically I'm the same way about artificial sweeteners...the Crystal light lemonade is the only one I like. I can't stand the others. I didn't know country time made those packets as well...I love country time!!

I also love the Great Value brand drink mixes. The Orange Sunrise and lemonade are my favorites.... the raspberry ice is ok, but I am not very fond of the peach tea. I plan on bringing plenty of these with us in September!!

We tried both the Brita water bottle and the packets of drink mix on our trip last summer. IMHO the packets of drink mix did not fully mask the taste of FL water. The Brita water bottle worked better for us. That's what we took with us this summer. I feel your pain about buying drinks for everyone in the family. There are six of us. If you have trouble finding a Brita water bottle check on Ebay.

We buy the Crystal Light and Country Time packets regularly. The Crystal Light ones come in Rasberry Ice, Lemonade, Iced Tea, Peach Iced Tea, and Orange, I believe. They run about $3.99 for a box of 10. We usually stock up on them when our store has them buy one, get one free.

The Country Time ones are pretty cheap. They are about $2.00 a box and my DH buys them all the time.

We drink a lot of bottled water and we just get tired of plain water, so we use those to give a little variety.

We are planning on using them in Sept at WDW. We are driving so we are taking a case of bottled water with us as well.

I'm sitting here now with my Walmart brand of Fruit Punch - YUMMY! Tastes just like Hawaiian Punch from my childhood. I usually add a bit more water to my bottle after drinking about 1/2 of it and it still has lots of flavor. I think I like the Fruit Punch better than the Lemonade and know they'll be coming with me on my next WDW trip. I used the Lemonade on my last trip and thought it was just fine adding it to the cups of ice water you can get for free from the CS restaurants.

We really like the Wal-Mart brand Peach Tea. Go throught it like water :goodvibes
We always take some of it to the parks with us. I have even put it in the free cup of water you can get.

We take along the small packets of true lemon and true lime. YUMMMMM.

I buy the Kool Aide fruit punch for when I need a sugar kick, but I love the Lipton Iced Tea packets!! They are a little pricey, so I stock up when they are on sale. I've bought Crystal Light lemonade, Walmart orange drink and Country Time lemonade.
