Flat Rate Mechanic or Auto Body? What do you make per hour?

I don't want to get too personal but need some comparison figures before Monday morning and hoped I might find some here. If you are a mechanic or bodyman working flat rate would you mind sharing what you make for non-warranty work per hr please?

DH supposedly went from salary to flat rate last week at the shop where's he's worked for 10+ years. They've been talking about it for a year now but just implemented it last week. It's a small shop and business has been really slow. Now - when the week is over - DH gets a weekend call at home that the owner wants to sit down and discuss how much per hour he's going to be paid for them - and we don't think it's b/c they want to pay him more. This should have been discussed prior to last week but apparently, once again, all bets are off in this nightmare of a small business and here's the newest surprise announcement.

DH rotates between general mechanic and, the majority of the time, is in the body shop. Obviously both pay scales would be different but it's been over twenty years since he's been salary- with the designation of management that was designed to avoid overtime pay all these years. In today's economy, it's hard for someone over 50 with a family & mortgage to quit and expect to get a job right away to start again but there's got to be a limit somewhere...:sad2:

Didn't look to see what state you live in however; in PA, if you lose more than 20% of your pay, through no fault of your own, you can get partial UC benefits. It my be something to look into.
