Flat Irons & Disney

I have naturally curly hair. That I usually flat iron. My question how well will it hold up in humidity. Anyone have experience with this?

It will not hold up too well - better to just skip the flat ironing and wear a ponytail or a hat. The good news is, nobody else's flat or curling irons will work too well either.

I have naturally curly hair that I wear straight also, mine did just fine. In fact, looking at the pictures I look pretty much the same as I do at home. I did wear it in a pony tail for the entire trip. We went in August. I live in Texas so I am used to heat and humidty.

Try Aveda's Light Elements Smoothing Fluid! It works great! It's a small bottle, and sort of pricey, but it lasts a long time. I have very frizzy hair if I don't flat iron, and it used to get frizzy or fuzzy in humid weather, but not any more. You just use a couple of "pumps" on each section before you iron it, and it stays smooth. I also have dry hair and scalp, so I can't shampoo every day, and my hair stayed great for 3 days at a time at Disney without having to redo it!

I guess it just depends on your hair type. Mine is very curly and frizzy underneath, and I had it straightened with a flat iron at the salon the day before my last trip to WDW. One hour after getting to FL, my curls started to kink up underneath. By the end of the day, you couldn't even tell it had been straightened.

ETA: I lived in FL for 15 years, you'd think my hair would have gotten used to it!

I have wavy, frizzy, not curly hair. My hair did great with the humidity. I just blow dried it until it was absolutely dry and then ran the flat iron at 400 degrees through it. I think alot depends on the quality of your flat iron. IMO the ceramic flat irons work best for my hair. I also used a pomade to seal the cuticle to help keep the moisture out. HTH!
