Flash Drive ??

Very interesting! We got our MBs a few weeks ago for a trip coming up soon. Lovely box, lovely bands, but no flash drive and no place in the packaging to put one. Oh well.

The magic bands arrive in a completely separate box from the flash drive. The flash drive box is equally as fancy, maybe more so.

We received two in the mail today for a split stay in June. I'm going to try reformatting it. They are cute!

We got ours yesterday, for our June split stay, we'll be on the Fantasy , in between WDW stays. Will try to reformat the drives on our MAC tomorrow.

Well, we just tried to use it for it's intended purposes and it won't load... just keeps trying and trying. I wonder why?

I just found my own answer, it's totally empty 1.8 GB free of 1.8 GB... go figure.

Because that is way less memory than either of mine had, something sounds wrong. Was the website having issues when you tried to use it? It simply links to videos already on the MDE section of wdw.com so if the site is messed up the drive won't work.

I received a 1.8 Gb. It contained two tiny files which, as you said were links to videos already on the webpage.

It is working fine in my car running mp3s.

Got mine today. Disk Utility on the Mac says it's a 1.37GB drive. And yup, just two links to videos already on the web.

Makes for a very nice presentation, that's for sure, but I can't help but think that a LOT of money was spent on this for what amounts to a personalized guide (which Disney has done before) and a flash drive that really has no reason for being. An email couldn't have done the same job?

It does make me wonder about the rumors of cost overruns I keep hearing about. Great first impression, sure, but I can't think this is going to be the norm after the "testing" is done.

Oh, I should mention, I got this today for trip we're not taking until September. And we don't have Park Tickets linked.

I'm on a Mac. I just cleared everything off the flash drive and started using it right away. No problems! Something to think about if you are on a Mac is to right-click on the flash drive. Go to Get Info, then check to see if you have read and write permissions. Sometimes they are set to read only, so if you change it to read and write you will be able to use it.

I just formatted my first 2 FD's and they both only had 964 mb

Going in Feb and did not receive the flash drive - just an email from Disney saying click on this link to the MDE website to see how to make FP+ reservations.

Think it might have something to do with being in Canada (they won't ship MB's, they claim that they will be waiting for us at check-in).

Got the MB flash drive for our trip in March. Cute but we've used MDE, etc for the last few trips (live in Florida so take a few short trips). I tried to see if there was any space available on the flash drive to use it as a regular one but it said it was full. Has anyone used these as a regular flash drive? If so how did you reconfigure it? Seems a waste of a cute flash drive to just throw it out.

I didn't have to reformat the ones they went me - they were 2 gig disks with only a url on them. Do you mean you had more than a "click me" url? Ours only 13.3 k of information on them.

Mine was 968MB so seems like they are sending a variety of sizes. It's nice but I agree with SuperRob about the cost. Seems like they'd be better off spending the money on expanding the parks or maintenance than on flash drives.

I'm sure we probably don't have to reformat to use it. Can't speak for everyone else, but I just did so to clear out old data. I have enough clutter in my life!
