Is this a seasonal restaurant? We are going in December and wonder if it will be open at that time. We love it!

Flame Tree closes occasionally for repair/refurb, but it is not a seasonal restaurant like Tomorrowland Terrace. It's been open all of the times, I've been there (usually September/October or December).

Thank you so much for the quick replies. I can add it to my itinerary now!

NOTE: Easy access once inside Animal Kingdom. For a
Quick Service eatery has surprising good ribs. Possibly the best
ribs in WDW. And, the price is very reasonable - a tad
more than $11, after tax, for a 1/2-slab St Louis style ribs with
beans and corn muffin. However, the pork sandwich was a
little weak on quality.

I would like to comment on some of these grades, because I think that these scores are rather harsh. I think there is a lot of seating for Flame Tree; it isn't all immediately obvious but it winds for a good distance behind the venue. For comfort, it's an outdoor QS place - so the seats aren't going to be cushioned or all that wonderful. That being said, the seats are no worse than the normal outdoor seating. I think the atmosphere is nice - it's outside, but with coverings and the times that I've been there, peaceful. In terms of helpfulness, when we were there the CM's were very helpful in providing extra plates and responding to requests.

We ate there on the DDP, so the price wasn't so much an issue but the portions were large enough for us and tasted good. While the menu isn't extensive, I think that six or so item is a fair selection. So I would go back quite happily.

Yep, we were there in December and it was open, however it was too cold for us to sit outside so we went to Restaurantosaurus instead! :)

I have to comment on these ratings as well. If you walk around the back of Flametree and down the paths, you will find tons of seating! We feel that the atmosphere is wonderful & actually quite relaxing since you can be far removed from the hustle & bustle of the park. Anytime we've eaten there, everyone we encountered was very friendly & very helpful with everything from questions about the food to offering to clear the trays from our table.

1) The ratings are tough, but they should be.
. . . reviews must be tight and reasonable
. . . not easy and simplistic
. . . they should adequately portray circumstances
2) But, let's put things more into context.

3) Yes, there is seating as you walk around.
4) But, this is a Quick Service eatery.
5) There should be mass seating available for the size of WDW.
6) But, one needs to compare seats to other eateries.
7) At Flame Tree, I remember the number as 390.
8) For a QS, that is only slightly under medium-sized.
9) We are not comparing seats numbers to V&A seats.

NOTE: As reference, just a few other eatery capacities.
. . . Cosmic Ray's at 1,100 seats
. . . Flying Fish at 193 seats
. . . ESPN Club at 450 seats
. . . Columbia Harbour House at 400 seats
. . . HDDR at 376 seats
. . . POP Food Court at 650 seats
. . . ABC Commissary at 562 Seats

I agree with all of your points above about what a review should be, but your system of assigning a letter grade is simplistic and does not have any context associated with it. Without knowing what you are using for comparison, which letter grades inherently assume, it is difficult to understand how you arrive at these grades and what they truly reflect. You gave the food a Flame Tree a 'B', but why did it get a B? Does this mean it's above average for a QS? Or does it mean it's above average in general, compared to all eating establishments in WDW? There is no way for someone reading your letter grade posts to know this unless you provide more information.

For #9, it's good that you're not comparing Flame Tree with V&A seating, but from your original post, there is no way to know that.
