Flag Family at WL?

I reading about this on allearsnet. Has anyone ever done this? If so how? I would like to check it out when we are there.

We have done it twice. We really enjoyed it.....we were brought up to the top of the lodge to raise the flags, wonderful view!

Ask when you check-in. We asked on our last trip (wanted my brother's family to be able to do it), but it was all booked up. The only times we have been lucky enough to book a day has been on longer trips. It seems like it has been booked at least a week out, but you never know!

FYI, twice we have encountered CM's at check-in that had no idea what we meant by "flag family". We just asked another CM. They have a 3 ring binder that they keep the sign-up log sheet in behind the counter.

We just got back from VWL and were told they were working on the roof, so they had suspended taking any "Flag Family" to the roof until the work was done. Didn't ask how long it would be. Good Luck. We did get to have a tour of the Lodge once (several years ago) before they quit giving the roof tour and it is a beautiful view from up there. I have some great pictures.

We checked in for 5 nights on 1/1 and were told that they were working on the roof, but that they were doing flag family again, I believe, starting on 1/6. The CM said that it was already booked up through the next weekend when we asked on that Sunday.

We did it several years ago. We got some awsome pics while we were up there and cool certificate for the scrapebook!

We are planning an August trip, we will be there for 8 nights so hopefully we will be able to do it once. What time do they usually do this?

Can you be the "flag family" if you are staying at a resort other than VWL?

We had to be at the front desk by 7:30 am and Ranger Stan headed us that way by 8.

I dont think you can be the flag family unless you are staying there. Wouldnt hurt to try I guess.
