I have a van rented for a 3 legged transfer. Do you tip on top of the price you paid for the van rental? How much per person do you tip usually?

also.... do they charge extra if you want to make a grocery stop? Or should I just place a web order for grocery delivery to resort?

I tend to tip on each leg of my trip with a towncar. But, I tip on the entire price, dividing it up between however many 'legs' there are. And I tip about 20%, unless I had really superior service.
As far as a grocery stop goes, most towncar services will stop, free of charge, but you have to let them know ahead of time. You should mention it when you book your service. If you've already booked but didn't mention a grocery stop, send them an email, letting them know you want to stop for groceries.

You should tip on the service the driver gives you. If you get a great driver give him a great tip. If you get a bummer don't tip him. Grocery stops are usually free. You don't have to tip for that. If the driver gripes about not enough money or to much time in the grocery show him your appreciation by not tipping him.

Passengers seem to forget if they tip a bad driver he will expect it from everyone else. Bad, gripey, mouthy and just idiot drivers should not be tipped for any reason. Keep tipping these guys and you will keep getting them. Tips are not a requirement and are given for service rendered.

20% - thats a little high for me.

What will I really be tipping?

I'm already paying for the transport, and my spouse & I handle our own bags...

That's what 'I' tip, nobody else has to. You should tip at what works for you. I know you say that your dh and you handle your own bags, but you won't be with a towncar driver. They will load your bags, and then unload them at the resort. They are giving you a personal service vs a bus ride with DME. It's completely upn to the guest as to what is an appropriate tip. I tend to be generous unless I get less than steller service. The one time I had to go looking for our driver at MCO, and then go looking for him (yet again) at BW for our return to the airport, well...he didn't get a 20% tip. I tipped him about $10 when we got to the airport (rather than the usual $20 I give) hoping that the return to the airport would be better service and I could make up the tip then. But, alas, that wasn't the case. We had to search for the driver as our pickup time came and went. By the time we had been waiting for 15 mins past the pickup time, my dh finally found the car and driver parked way down by the BW bus stop, sitting there having a smoke (which was what he had been doing at MCO when we finally found him there, outside the terminal area!!). He only got a $5 tip then. So, he got $15 for a $120 fare, rather than get a tip of close to $30, which is what I usually give. Do what works for you.
