Need some help with pros and cons! I have read that MYW can take up to 2.5 hours to get you to POR:eek: Also, don't count on your luggage getting to you room until very late.:headache:

We are to arrive Orlando at 9:10 a.m. It is my understanding that you wait in a line to get your transportation and then you also wait for your bus in a line only to wait in another line at the resort to check in.

We wanted to make a stop at the grocery but were told that we could do the garden grocer or something similar.:confused3

What would you do?

We are hooked on MYW (actually it's called Disney's Magical Express).

For one it's FREE

Two, you don't have to stop at baggage claim and wait for up to 30 minutes to retrieve your bags.

Three, it has never taken us more than 90 minutes to get to our resort.

Since you are arriving early in the morning, I'm assuming you are planning on going to the parks or DTD that day, so don't worry about your bags. They will be at your resort well before check-in time of 4pm.

If you are planning on swimming at your resort that day, just pack your swim stuff in a carryon, have a bottle of sunscreen in your Garden Grocer order and you are set for the day.

It really is very easy and more than 90 minutes from your gate to your resort is very rare.

The wait time to check into ME (Magical Express) always looks worse than it is. There are numerous cast members to check you in so the wait is generally about 10 minutes. After you check in you are then directed to a line for the bus to your resort. POR will most likely share with POFQ and SSR or OKW.
We have used ME several time and it has never taken us 2.5 hours to get to the resort....Even on a Saturday morning in July it did not take me that long. from the time I get off the plane until we've gotten to the resort has generally been an hour to an hour and 15 minutes.
I do not know what time our luggage arrives because we check in, have the resort hold our carry on luggage and we hit the parks until later in the day. When I have returned my luggage has always been in my room...but understand that this can be 3:00 when I return for a break. Even before ME We would pack things in our carry on that we would need in case our luggage did not arrive at the airport safely. So we have our swim suits and usually a change of clothes, so we have not had to worry about when we get our luggage.

I guess I am wondering why they don't just check you in at the airport as well? I know that in the past, the resort check in could take at least 45 minutes.:confused3

When you said you just pack an extra clothes and bathing suit in your carry on, do they deliver that to your room as well?

I've used Magical Express 4 times, and each time my luggage has been in my room just minutes after I get into my room. One time last year I stopped at the POP gift shop before heading to my room after check-in, and my luggage was already there! I have heard of the bags taking a long time to arrive, but we always arrive early in the morning (before 11am) and I guess they are not backed up yet at that time. Once you get on the bus, it only takes about 1/2 hour to get to Disney property, and then not too much longer to get to your resort, depending on how many stops the bus is making that day. It really is very easy and convenient, and best of all FREE! But if you want to pay for other transportation, it's your money - do whatever you think will make you happy.

Magical Express check-in is not connected to resort check-in. You do still have to wait in line to check in at your resort. You would have to do this regardless of the method of transportation you use to arrive at the resort.

You carry your carry-on onto the bus with you, just like you do on the airplane.

Anything you have as a carryon, if you are heading for the parks before your room is ready, you can store with Bell Services when you arrive at the resort, and they will deliver your carryons to your room also. At value resorts, your carryons and your checked luggage will be delivered automatically. At moderate and deluxe resorts your checked luggage will be delivered automatically, your carryons may not. You may have to give them a ring once you get back to your room for them to bring them up.

I am convinced! We will use the MYW transportation. Now that I think about it, we are in Disney and what better way to begin our adventure :cool1:

Maybe with us arriving that early in the morning it won't be to busy :woohoo: :woohoo:

Can someone direct me to a place on the board where we could get info on grocery store?

Just so you do not get confused...the transportation is ME or Magical Express the MYW is the Magic Your Way Tickets (for admission in the parks).

There ya go...now you've got it!! I love DME. It's a truly wonderful way to start your WDW vacation. The lines really aren't all that bad....the longest it has taken me from deplaning to resort checkin was 90 mins...I was at POP, we were the last of three stops and there were a lot of people who had decided to bring their luggage with them so it took a bit of time to get all the bags out from under the bus. Usually it takes me about 70 mins from deplaning to resort checkin.
Now.....as far as grocery stores.....I've used netgrocer.com in the past but they don't deliver any perishables. I used www.wegoshop.com and found them to be very good. Another company that many have used is www.gardengrocer.com Both these companies deliver right to the resort for a small fee, usually under $15. Check out their sites and see what you think.
