FL Teachers: School Districts in the WDW area?

Any one know about the best paying school districts in Florida, and near WDW? I will be getting my teaching degree soon and want to move to FL any advice would be great! Any websites would be good too with info about teaching in FL. Thanks.

The market must be pretty good. My parents live in FL and said the state was trying to encourage teachers to keep teaching (or come out of retirement) by letting them not only draw their retirement but by allowing them to draw another retirement after teaching only a few more years.

That's the "official" state government web site. It has tons of demographic data for all 67 counties. The closest counties to WDW are Orange & Osceola, with Brevard on the beach to the east & Polk (I think) being the next county to the west.

Not sure about employement opportunities, but certification standards are becoming stricter in the state. The state DoE & local Boards can give you better infot than I can even guess at.

No, but my DH and I are, and my mom wouldn't mind having us move down there!

You can also check Lake and Seminole Counties for opportunities. Although the state has been trying to lure people here for teaching jobs, know in advance the average starting salary is around $26K per year.

I have a very good friend that was teaching here until she started looking around at other states, she now makes just under $60K in eastern PA teaching the same grade she was teaching here at $28K- huge difference in salary.

$26!!! OMG I can make that here working w/o my degree! I've heard the starting pay is like $35!
