good day to all,

i just got off the telephone with a wonderful cm. i had told her i heard florida resident rates were out. she told me that they are out and that it goes from 8/24 - 10/1. can't help me right now, i'm waiting for december. i will be patient. i also asked about ap rates and she said they are not out yet but expects them soon. good luck to all, hope you get a great discount. :D

I was just logging on to say the same thing! The rates quoted for the middle of September were (with tax):
$88.09 for PORS regular
$99.24 for a king bed at PORS
$143.84 woodsview at Wilderness Lodge
$289.90 for Concierge at WL
$221.89 for Beach Club

There is also a 20% discount for Cirque du Soliel tickets until 9/30 for Florida residents (I think the website said 25% for FL resident passholders).

In May, AP rates came out a week or so after FL resident rates.

Hope this helps!

Cathy

Yippee! Maybe this is a good sign of things to come (like AP rates) for those who are waiting!

Good luck to those trying to snag some good fall rates!

I'm jealous of all the great FL resident rates!! How hard would it be to establish residency in FL if you had a friend or relative there?? Just a passing thought!!

About when will the Florida Resident rates come out for December? I noticed for fall the price for Deluxe resorts is $109.
Does this include the Animal Kingdom Lodge? How quickly do these rates sell out? We are going December 13,14,15. Thanks for the help!!

Yes, that is the price for a standard room for AKL. It is $121.00 with tax. (Don't think my husband will stay there, but I called to get the price anyway!)

Sawyermaw1, I'm with you! I sure do wish GA could get rates like that. My in laws live in FL and I thought of using her address to book my reservations but heard you have to show proof when you check in. Mother in law suggested I get a FL drivers license - wish it was that easy.

What would you have to do to get a FL drivers license??

Um, live here?

No offense.

I called last night and can verify the $109 rate at AKL. Savannah view pushed my theoretical 5-night stay up over $1000, so it sounds like it's still falling in the $180/$190 range for Savannah view... still the huge gap, I keep hoping they'll bring that down a little. I didn't get the *nightly* Savannah rate, she just told me what the total would be, so I'm reverse engineering.

Honestly, I'm not sure what you'd have to do. I'll have to ask her and let you know. I know they renew the license by mail.

To be a Florida Resident you need to be a Florida Resident. Here is what qualifies you as a Florida resident:

"You are considered a resident of Florida if you:

enroll your children in public school, or
register to vote, or
file for a homestead exemption, or
accept employment, or
reside in Florida for more than six consecutive months. "

I have an answer.........

You have to appear at the DL bureau and turn in your current license - no driving test, but maybe an eye test. You get your license immediately.

1. To get the Florida Resident Rate it would be best if you were an actual resident.

2. When you apply for a Florida Driver's License, they take your old license. So unless you don't plan on driving in your own state again, bad move.

3. Better yet, just look in the Sunday papers or mousesavers.com for a rate that applies to your situation or state.

4. It's best to not LIE to get a good rate......what doesn't get you in the face, bites you in the butt....:D :D
