I know I've seen a thread about this, but I can't find it and I am not sure which websites out there are legit and which are not since so many seem to offer this sort of thing.

Has anyone done this and can tell me what I will have to do? I have about 5 1/2 weeks left and am hoping its not too late to go this route!

Yes! Go directly through Brevard County, like she said. :thumbsup2 The other websites are a rip-off - they charge you $100 or more to do something you can do yourself for free (well, plus the actual cost of the license).

Hey sorry to hijack but I was just reading the directions for the mail away from Brevard Cty and it says this at the end of the instructions...

"You must submit your Certificate of Attendance from the counseling provider with your application.
Payment must be remitted to the Clerk of the Court and will be paid when the executed Application to
Marry has been issued to the couple."

Anyone know what this means? What counselor?

TIA!

You get a discount on the fee if you go to counseling before the wedding. So you have to provide proof.

Dh and I did see a regular marriage counselor a few times before we got married. He just wrote us a simple letter (heck, I might have written and he signed) stating that we'd been seeing him for counseling. THat saved us $25 or $35 off the cost of our license. Since we'd spent money on counseling (which was great for us), I was happy to save the money.

I did the marriage license by mail. Such an easy process. The company we went through is named Say I do Weddings Inc. We were referred by our minister and were told that the person that started the company is an ex-Disney FTW Planner. Contact name is Lynn McKintrick and her phone number is (352) 536-2871. I am thinking that you are cutting it kindof close with only 5 1/2 weeks, but paperwork is simple. Oh and the email address for Say I do Weddings is... (unable to post email address since I haven't posted 10 posts yet...sorry...if you call the number they should be able to give you the email address). Here is the website...has all of the information on it too! Ok, apparently I can't post that either. The site is the name of the company sayidoweddingsinc and then .com (Sorry for the long and drawn out process to get the site on here) We sent in our original paperwork and got an email on May 4th (wedding on the 30th) to print out certain things and get notarized and mail overnight...still had it done in time for the wedding...so you have time!!!

Sorry to ask this silly question....but if we go through Brevard County, am I correct in understanding that we do not have to go to the courthouse? I'm trying to book our flights and want to make sure I don't need to allow time to do this!

TIA!

:)

That is correct. Lulu, we also used Brevard County and everything went smoothly. No need to plan a trip to the courthouse !
