We were driving back from FL on Saturday July 4th on 95N and they were funneling everyone on 95S to the weigh station to check if people were coming from NY, NJ, or CONN. I couldn't tell if they were turning people around but thought I would let everyone know that it is still active.

They wouldn't be turning people around. Visitors from those states are not banned from entering FL. They just need to follow the quarantine precautions.

Yes it is still active. One of our local (Jacksonville) radio stations mentions it every day during their traffic reports.

Wonder what qualifies as quarantine. We have a trip planned for late August to Bradenton for hubby to work. We are using our RV and are from Georgia, which I'm guessing if it's not the list now it will be soon. Typically we travel for his work with the RV, the dog and I stay at the RV park and he goes and does his thing. Right now that means going into an empty office over the weekend to switch out IT equipment and get it back up and running. There is normally no one or only one or two people in the building with him. Sometimes if he gets home early enough we will go for a ride in the area for me to see the sites but lately, we don't even get out of the truck. If there is anywhere to walk or hike at the RV park, the dog and I do that just to get out. I know the dog and I would be considered quarantined since we don't leave the RV park but he still be able to go do his work?

I know a few people who arrived in Florida. You MAY get a phone call following up with you during your quarantine. You may not. Service providers are all cautioned to deny services if they identify someone under quarrantine. For example, someone moved to Florida, and could not get utilities hooked up at an apartment for two weeks. So nobody will likely stop your husband, but, if someone sees NY license plates driving around he may be questioned or have difficulty.

In this case it was cable and phone and other services like deliveries requiring access inside the apartment. Power and Water are done outside (typically only a meter read and account setup)

Someone may follow up if you provide the paperwork with phone numbers or addresses, etc... I don’t believe anyone is going to follow around license plates as a car from out of state could have been there for 6 months... I think hassling over your license plate could get into other legal issues.

Interesting...they did not have this on 75 when we came down from TN. Probably, not the typical route for people in the northeast but still.

If people from the tri-state area detoured to I-75, it would add hours and hours (if not up to a day) to their travels and not on interstate highways.

Other people have suggested this loophole, and I have investigated possible routes and they are not pleasant.

Yea. I did the math. It's about 4 hours and 15 minutes longer (250 miles) from NYC if you detoured to I-75. I assume it's the same from most of the Tri-State area.

With the exception of Buffalo. That's more of a straight shot. Even then, it's nearly three hours longer or about 160 miles.

Although there are no reports of local police hassling new york cars, there are reports of local people hassling the drivers of new york cars. People are on edge.

There are shorter detours around I-95 using US17 or going further west to US301.

Right...and obviously everyone who has already spent several thousand dollars for flights, hotels, rental car, and park tickets will tell the truth -- even if it means they are denied entry!
