We are heading to Universal today!!! We will be entering at 8:00 tomorrow and heading to Olivander's. I have read that you should do the FJ castle tour and then do the single rider line. My kids will not want to do the single rider line the first time through the ride. Do you think it is better for us to just stand in line and then do the castle tour after the ride? We will be there 3 days so I am assuming we will have plenty of time to ride it again (and again).

The only reason to do the castle tour is if you didn't "take it all in" while in the normal line (the single rider line bypasses the castle stuff however). Do the regular line first (since you want to do one ride together anyways) before deciding to do the tour. It is my understanding the tour is just another set of queue alongside the regular line, with no ride at the end. [someone correct me if I'm wrong, ive never done the "tour"] You can just take your own pace and not wait in line if you don't want to ride. Does that make sense? lol

The castle tour ends before you see a few things. There are some statues and the green house that you will miss. The good thing about the castle tour is you can stop and watch Dumbledore in his office and then the trio in the classroom. They are both cute little shows.

I did the castle tour the single rider line and the regular line. Do all three if you can. The ride is just amazing!

Our family group will include two who will not want to ride - so are we best all queuing together, and then the 2 just 'exiting' at the ride point, or are they best just to do the tour line and meet us after the ride?

It all depends on the queue length. It is fun to do the queue together.

If you have any children that cannot ride (we have a 2 year old), go through the single rider, then tell them you are child swap right at the end. This speeds up the process alot!!! We each take a turn riding, then do the tour whenever to look around. This only works if you are doing child swap. Basically, don't wait in the reg line if you are have a child and are going to ride alone anyway.
Also, even if my hubby and I are riding together, we do the single rider. You cannot even see or talk to each other on the ride anyway! Because of the seat design.

do the regular line first as the castle tour does not cover most of the line area, then you can reride with singles and go through the tour to take photos and geek out

hit Ollie's first then go through regular line :thumbsup2 If you are staying onsite you should be fine as you get early entry :)

I would have them wait with you...you can't see the Sorting Hat if you exit too early!

At the end of the "tour" I asked if I could go and get a photo of the Sorting Hat - I was sent through the child swap line all the way to where you get on the ride, then sent past the child swap waiting room to the exit.

Thanks for all the replies. We arrived at 8:00 Thursday and went to Ollivander's first. We then headed to the regular line at FJ. My youngest bailed at the end, so DD2 and DH sat in the child swap area. We did the castle tour later that night and also did the single rider line. It was good to see all 3 lines.
