regarding this policy and CathrynRose changing in front of her child...
Once my DH was out with our oldest DD (she was
maybe 2 at the time) and he saw a pair of pants on sale that he wanted to try on. He was not allowed to take DD into the fitting room. She could go into the mens restroom and see random strangers urinating, but god forbid she saw her father change his pants
As for the original topic, while
in theory I have no issue with a man being in a dressing room while I'm in another dressing room there are definitely times were it could be inappropriate (some people are creepy and some people will use dressing rooms for activities other than trying on clothing). I had always assumed that these were the reasons why people were not supposed to be accompanied in a dressing room (other than children). Before reading this thread it
never would have entered my mind to have DH come into the women's dressing room with me. There were definitely times where I would have liked his help zipping something or his opinion between two options, but I have always assumed that it was not acceptable to allow him in because it could make others uncomfortable.
