I realize that there have been other threads asking the question but I need some advice from current and past Disney brides....I need to lose 40 pounds before the wedding (17 months away) How do I do it without giving up all the foods I love? Any ideas? :goodvibes

Don't completely give up all of the foods you love. Whenever I try to completely give up all junk food and sweets, it'll make me really cranky and then I'll end up overindulging. Eat unhealthy foods in moderation. Also, search online for different healthy foods and recipes because there tend to be healthier versions of favorite foods. I'm a huge fan of Dreamfield Low Carb Pasta and No Pudge Brownies. Hope this helps a little. :wave2:

A big thing that heatherlynn told all of us about is sparkpeople.com

I have been using it for about two weeks now religiously and lost about 8 pounds from it.

I am doing high fiber and high protein, and still eating my fave snacks. But, I am just saving snacks as a reward for the end of the day and I cut my portions down drastically.

Keep a food journal. Write down everything you eat, and you will be able to see where you can cut back. You definitely don't have to give up your favorite foods or starve yourself (bad!)...moderation is the key...and as I used to tell my classes when i taught at the gym, limit mickey d's to once a week! :rotfl2:

Also, if you are not doing it already, lift weights as a part of your exercise regimen. 17 months is a lot of time! :thumbsup2 Good luck! :goodvibes

That is what I am doing...I have a total of 91 pounds to lose to be at my high-school, college volleyball playin' weight - pre-pregnancy weight! My fiance and I started September 14, 2006, and as of November 21 I've lost 31.2, he's lost 43 - don't get me started about how unfair that is!

We both started at the same weight, and have the same goal weight...I'm 6'2", he's almost 6'0".

Anyways, Jenny Craig...their food is SOOOO good for the most part...there's a few I could (and do) do without. Chocolate Cake, Lemon Cake, Chocolate Chip Cookies, Toffee Bites (don't sound all that great, but they really are!). The food is kinda pricey, but I think it is worth it. It averages out to about $90-$100 bucks a week, and you have to buy milk, yogurt, salad, peanuts or Olives (as my consultant would say, if you fancy!). I have tried weight watchers before, and it is good, but as a teacher/coach with a 4 year old, and a second coaching job I wanted easy! Now doing the dishes consists of putting the fork and salad plate in the dishwasher!

I'm not going to bore everyone with all the details, but if you want more Jenny Craig dirt, let me know...I should get commission for how much I promote them!

34 more pounds and I can try on a Wedding Gown...25 pounds after that to Goal! :woohoo:

I would have to promote Weight Watchers. It can be done online or at a center. You can still eat all the foods that you love, as long as you count the points for them. I admit I have followed WW before and got to my goal weight and now am refocusing to regain my goal. For me it is the easiest plan to follow. Good luck - I need to loose about 40 pounds before May 07. You can do it!! :thumbsup2

I too am a huge advocate of Weight Watchers. My family has had more success there than anywhere else.

I am also a huge fan of Weight Watchers! I lost 20 pounds with them a couple years ago and have maintained it since then. There is no magic bullet, but they are healthy and you don't have to deprive yourself of the things you love - just eat them in moderation.

Belle1981 ~ I noticed that you are also in Toronto and I've started a program called Healthy Heart Meals available in the GTA.

They provide calorie reduced meals and deliver them to your door every three days. The food is fresh and nutritious. I lost 6lbs in the first two weeks ... I'm putting in the last ditch effort to drop some weight before our wedding in January! I'm a MASSIVE foodie and I'm having a pretty easy time with it.

If you'd like more information, feel free to PM me!

Belle1981,

I highly recommend the zone diet. You can find tons of info on it at your local bookstore. The basics of it are to eat 40% carbohydrates, 30% protein and 30%(good) fat. Portion control is a huge part of it, and as long as you do that, you can more or less eat what you like. Also eat 4-5 small meals a day rather than 3 big ones. You should never go more than 3-4 hours without eating otherwise your body will tell itself to overeat. Finally, remember that it is very realistic to lose only 1-2 lbs a week. If you start losing a lot right away, you are more likely to put it back on. Good luck!:)

Belle1981-
From your sig, you look beautiful! I doubt you have that much weight to lose! Ladies, let's stop being so hard on ourselves! We're all going to look beautiful on our wedding days b/c we'll be happy brides :)

I have recently lost 63 pounds which I have done doing a wheat free diet as I am wheat intolarant so I cant eat it! My DF is not eating as much bread etc and his weight is dropping as well.

I dont feel so bloated or tired as what I did when I was eating wheat.

Its not a solution for everyone but it might be worth cutting wheat out of your diet for a few weeks to see how it works.

Ladies, Thank you so much for all of your support and kind words! I really want to lose the weight not only for that day but forever. See my mother has had breast cancer twice in the past 7 years and I want to be healthy for my family. I am an emotional eater Happy, Sad, Angry, Bored all times I eat! DF is super supportive but it's still a battle!!! Thank you! :grouphug:

my fiance and i are doing Nutrisystem. it is working great so far and we feel great. the only downside is the cost of it, but it teaches you what to eat and how to eat healthy, so we are gonna try to go it on our own here soon, but we've both lost about 20 pounds in the last 2 months.
