Okay this is weird, because I havnt really gone into this subject too much before . I dont know if I fit in on here, I mean...I kind of do, but...not really.
It almost feels weird, that Im not a Disney board, when :

1.None of my family really cares about disney
2. I never cared about Disney too much before VMK, and then I found this board, and then from here on in, I just learned the secrets and magic of it all
3. I had never been to Disney before that I can remember (except once when I was 4, but like I said, I dont remember it) and this past summer, because of you guys :

I just feel so weird, when posting about Disney things, when...I just...my family doesnt like disney, so if I ever asked to go to Disney, although they dont realize it, it feels so weird, because Im acting like a little kid, by myself running around doing rides, when I have no magic that most people have, because my family isnt completely into it.


Does that make any sense??

Most of us come from Disney nut families so we always have that magic.
My family never used to be into Disney. I loved all the movies, and my mother and I were just in awe of Disney World.
My dad always laughed and said 'Who the heck would want to go to theme parks for an entire week in the blistering heat with tons of crowds?'
I never knew what my brother thought.
We were supposed to go to Disney when I was little, but 9/11 happened, so we never went because my dad became afraid of flying (and not long after SARS happened in TO, and that's where you connect to go to Orlando from here).
So, in grade 5, my mother was itching to go on vacation. ANYWHERE. She tried and tried to get my family to go to the Dominican, or Cuba, but my brother hates the beach. So she decided to bribe my dad into going to Disney by going on a cruise. Then my parents got excited with the planning and decided it'd be a 'once in a lifetime' trip. Our first and last real family vacation.
Well my dad absolutely loved the parks, and my entire family turned into Disney nuts. The next year my parents decided to do another 'once in a lifetime trip', and then this year they went on their 25th anniversary trip to... Disney xD
My family are nuts, when we're all together now, our conversation always goes to Disney. We can't help it.

And my uncle loves it too. He's a moderator on here and goes around twice a year.

But, sadly it seems your family didn't learn to love it =/

They think I'm too old.
My brother isnt into it, we have always looked at it as a "Money Scam", even I at one point. When I was little, the only thing I liked was "Disney Channel", now..I hate Disney Channel, and love Disney. I dont know what I can do, to show them that there are other things for grown-ups to do in the park, that even though my whole family is just adults, you can still have fun in disney. I just dont know what.

Sometimes, I could see that spark in my Dad, that you could see him turn into a little kid saying "I remember that" and I would automatically start flipping out, and he would tell me storys of my grandma taking him on a trip. My Grandma LOVES disney, but..sadly, even though she is a tough trooper, and had season passes to disney, I dont think she could come with us to Disney. Her favorite ride is "Its a small world" : So I know that I have a teensy bit of hope with my dad, but for my Mom and Brother, I dont know what I can possibly do, to show them that there is hope, that you CAN have fun in disney.

I don't think it's weird at all! You love Disney now, right? I think that's all that matters.

My family doesn't like Disney either, except for my mom. And when we get there, she usually acts like a little kid too because of the magic of it all.

Well, Disney is a money scam to the cynics. It is rather expensive to go there. But the thing is, for the people who love it, they see it as an escape from real life, so money has no value when they're there.

My dad always thought it was for little kids, he was like 'What the heck?' and then when he got there, he loved every bit of it. He loved the more adventurous rides, he found the shows humorous and cute, and he loved anything that reminded of me and my brother being little watching Disney movies.
Last time we were in Disney he bought this rare (it's not exactly rare, but they only sell it at Disney, and there's only so many copies) print of these buckets at the beach. There's one for evey WDW park, and one for DCL. Underneath the print we have a pin from every park and the Wonder. He loves it. It was his fathers day gift back in 06.

I think I just need to find a trip, where my brother isnt along. He drags it down most of the time.
"The food tastes bad" "I heard someone died on that ride" "We rode the monorail!" (I swear, I know the monorail, we DID NOT RIDE THE MONORAIL) "Are you ready to leave?" I hate that, why the hell would he ask me if I was ready to leave, its just like saying "CAN WE GO NOW, IM BORED, I WANNA WATCH POKE-EEE-MON"
"...this is boring..." He just wont accept, and we have to do what HE wants to do.

You would be very surprised if I told you his age.

Mouse, you're not weird. Many people who are on the DIS haven't gone to the Disney Parks or don't like Disney, but came for VMK (and maybe for Universal Studios/Seaworld)

Maybe you can convince them to go when it's your birthday?

About things for adults to do, they have loads of clubs and things at Pleasure Island in DTD. I think in most of them, nobody under 21 is allowed in.

My dad really doesn't like Disney. Our family never did the whole magic thing, but now my are parents divorced, I enjoy Disney more now that I don't have a cynic with me all day!

I never really liked Disney until I was like 12/13 anyway and now most people at my school think I'm weird *** I like it!

Well Im looking for something for... grown-ups plus me. You know what I mean right? Like the whole family, but it doesnt have to be for little kids.

Is the Pirate/Princess party...is that safe? Is it usually fun? I was reading into it, and it looked like a blast!

I just... I dont care how long it takes, Im GOING to get them to love disney as much as me, for me it was one of those things, where I saw it and it was love at first sight, for them...this could take some work..

I'm really not much of a Disney buff.
I'm just on here for friends.

I've been to DLR twice, that's it.
That's only cuz I have family in that area.

I discovered DIS because of VMK, and VMK because of... uh, Neopets ad, I think.

My parents don't have a problem with Disney, we watched a bunch of the movies when I was little, and I have stock in Disney. Good company to invest in, lol.

They just don't have a sense of Disney magic.

I understand where your coming from I dont really fill like I fit in here and a few seconds ago I was wondering why I have stayed so long as it seems like no one really does like me here and i havent made the friendships that many of the people here have made. I've been to WDW once and DLR twice and we dont go every year like many people here it sounds like my mom would really like to go again this year as she said last night but my dad really isnt any Disney fanatic. The next trip we take in 09 let just say my dad wont be coming. I think I feel like you just have to try your best to spread the disney love as I try to do as thats the most I can do with my dad not being a disney fanatic.

My mom was shocked that my dad didnt come in the room squealing like a little kid, with this really great news. My mom said that, she feels bad that I never get to see my family that lives in florida, so she said that instead of going to disney with no purpose, we would go stay at my familys house for a week, and all go to disney together with them!


Thats even better with my other side of my family, instead of my unwilling mom and brother. Then I get to roam the park, with my happy family as a whole, because we are always happy when we are together.

That amazed me. It was like a dream come true.

We havnt planned anything yet, and it isnt written in stone, but its just the idea.

Its probably going to be in teh summer. My cousin has never seen snow before, so we are gonna have her family come up here, and during the summer my family goes down to florida.


I dont like going to florida in the sunner though, I like to go during thanksgiving. Thats my favorite
