My husband and I are starting to train for our first marathon. We want a watch/band/whatever of some sort that tracks our heart beat and time/distance. Using my iPhone is a pain and a drain on the battery unless it's just playing music. Does anyone have a recommendation?

After much debate, I decided on the Garmin 220... so that I could set my intervals, and because it will vibrate and/or beep to indicate it's time to run/walk. Others may have different opinions, as I've just started running the last cpl years and have yet to make it to a marathon.

Garmin!

The Garmin 10 is the most affordable option...but it's affordable because it has the least amount of options and a shorter battery life (5 hours). In your case this may not work because it doesn't have a heart rate monitor option. :confused3

The Garmin 15 is a newer model - similar to the Garmin 10 but has some more options (there's a version available with a heart rate monitor) and an 8-hour battery life.

I have the Garmin 220. It's awesome. Many more options (including a heart rate monitor option) and an 8-hour battery life.

Make sure to check sites like Amazon and RunningWarehouse for deals. I got my 220 for cheaper because RunningWarehouse was honoring a rebate Garmin was doing for teachers and students. My husband is a teacher so I saved some cash. :)

Also check out DC Rainmaker for very detailed reviews on GPS watches.
